Recommended files and Mods. - New to the Game

Hello,
I just bought the Pirates of the Caribbean PC game and was wandering, which mods should I install? There are lots of modpacks in here and I am completely lost.

I would like to know a list of mandatory mods and other files (patches maybe)
and if possible a link to them.

Iys up to you if you want to download all the mods <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> , well download also the Stormysart mod. There is the Build 12, yes, and there are some mods in Pieter Boelen's modpacks. But I recommend that you first play the original game without any mods and play it to the end. And install Build 12 then only, as you can see what changes we made. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

But doesn't the build take away the annoyances in the game, making it a better one? Kinda like the Addon for Sea Dogs? At least thats what I thought.

So I guess its recommended that the first time around I play the game WITHOUT any mods or builds. I'll try that then. But if I decide to install the build in the middle of the game, will it destroy my save files?

I believe Build 11 savegames will work with Build 12, but stock savegames will not.

Yes, the Build fixes a lot of bugs and defenitly improves the game. But if you have never played the stock game, it is impossible to see what has been improved. So that is why I would also recommend first trying the stock game. I may be the instrument out of tune, but I don't really recommend playing the game stock--as Skull says, there are a number of pitfalls, annoyances, and `hatred-inducing` bugs.
Well, you might try it for a few hours, at least 'till you've won yourself a class 4 or 3 ship; or to play just the mainquest; but I wouldn't so much recommend playing sidequests, as they've changed, and other quests connected to them.

Please don't add anything like Pieter's modpack unless you are an experienced gamer and wish to TEST these mods, as they are NOT YET ready to add to the Build and still have bugs that need to be fixed.

The first time you run into a problem with the unmodded version of PotC, install Build 12, as you will find that it fixes A LOT of problems... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

The only reason to try the game unmodded is so that you will be able to understand the scope of what was created by all of these talented modders!
