Red Negative numbers beside your personal/ship skills and PIRATE skills

Doc2daMAX

Powder Monkey
I've been looking for information on how to get rid of the large negative numbers beside my personal and ship skills as well as my PIRATE skills.

First of all, what the heck are they?!

Secondly, how do I get rid of these negative effects? (Note: I DO realize that I can carry objects that have a negative effect on my skills, but I still have way more negatives than the objects I carry)

red negative means ur level not high enough to command that ship. So its like a penalty effect on your ship performance.

Right click "Navigation" in character screen , under ship abilities.Your navigation skill ain't big enough for the ship you're sailing.

LE:sorry , posted almost at the same moment with woopypooky - didn't see his post here before.

I love this mechanism, grappling 'Ship of the Line' with full packed 'Galleon' right off the bat in previous games kinda spoiled the fun.

And the frigate in Peters prologue is just an escape device, get rid of it asap or you'll pay quite a huge price for one months upkeep <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> what I obviously did

Yep... faster and better maneuvering that an average frigate, but with the crew, cannons and hull of a battleship... I love this ship <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/love.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":luv" border="0" alt="love.gif" />

<b>BEST REGARDS</b>

hmm, glad that I already got a class 1 ship or I'd have to really regret selling this frigate for a few coins..

Fred Bob had Peter buy him a Tartana, switch ships, sell de Frigate fer $70K, buy him a Sloop, switch tew de Sloop, an' finally sell off de Tartana! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> Peter did dis 'cause he couldn't afford de ship storage! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Some o' dem archeological items dat Peter loots in Barbados kin give him negative skill problems also! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
