Hey, derringer is back!
We were wondering where you were, mate! Glad to have you back.
Nice skin pack! I think I'll be downloading it now mate! It's really really big! You said they replace the origional soldier skins, right? So they are not new characters, right? Except for the british officers, right? Well, that's good, I can download both yours and JMVs Skinpacks and use them for different parts (like your brits on Oxbay and his on Redmond, and your frenchies on ships and oxbay and his as FdFs Guard.) That would work well.

Arg they look great Derringer. Such great skin mods coming out resently.

Capo,

Your plan is more right than you know. His British soldiers have white facing while my have blue. The blue signified Royal Troops. So it would make sense, from a somewhat historical point of view, that the Capital island would have royal troops, while the outlaying islands would have `non-royal` troops.

Deringer,

I told you this a long time ago, but I'll say it again. The detail in your skins is utterly amazing. I love how you can see the weave of the piping on the officer's coats. That `Pre-revolution` French Navy captain is great.

Your british officers, are they from the '45 in Scotland? The black facing reminds me the Blackwatch Regiment.

oohh i`ve seen you have good historical skills <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

the Problem is my motivation too make more things for POTC is away at the moment .The Modding Support from the Developer absolutelly suxxx sry but that is so . I´ve long working on maya and so on for new Mods and then I´ve read new`s about the following akela Games and the mostly thing I´ve read was that the next Games has no open Source like POTC or better Modding Support ,that have pissed me off . Currently existing enough Games with much better Moddingtools ,Support and so on thats the point why I make a POTC Break .But i have my eyes in this Commuity <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

btw jmv575 maybe you can make something with the unfinished spain squadron commander 1735 <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

That was really hard to install,
and I had to replace some of the old Royal Navy skins with yours (sorry JMV) so I can get portraits. But in the end I got the brits to work (I really don't have time for the frenchies right now.

The old ones I did last winter suck. No apology necessary. Even if I thought they were god's gift to this green earth, you still wouldn't need to apologize. You do with your game whatever you want.

Deringer, I'll see what I can do with your Spanish Captain, but next to your abilities my skills won't signify. I understand completely what you mean by losing your POTC modding drive. The more you try to fix the game, really the more it just pisses you off.

Nice!!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

Suck? They were great! I loved them.

Derringer- Start a new game with your mod, go talk to an english soldier. Look at the mouth on some of them. Make sure you check each model. Not much of a glitch, but just letting you know the mouth on some are screwed up when they talk.

Yeah, I had that problem too for a while on the skins I was doing. I finally figured out that by checking each skins head model in the gm viewer I was able to make sure the lips were placed correctly in relation to the mouth crease on the model.

Well, hey, Derringer, if you are planning to do a spanish pack here is a site I just found five minutes ago...
<a href="http://www.artifacts.org/Luisiana.htm" target="_blank">http://www.artifacts.org/Luisiana.htm</a>
it's about Spains Louisiana Regiment from the American Revolution. and sligtly before that.

Nice skins, the English soldiers match the POTC film ones rather well. Not that I can tell what time period that's meant to be. Bizarre anachronism of the 'Code' and it's authors being active sometime after the suposed 1630 date of the film and game.
Is there somewhere that'll tell me how to install the skins? I had thought it was just a case of replacing the existing (default) files with these ones, but some of them have different file names, or are entirely new models. Er, help?

Awesome skins. I too am confused though as how to install them bieng new to the POTC mod scene. Which files go where?

Thanks

any files starting with h_ go into the models/heads folder
the other .gms go into the models/characters folder
the .tga.tx go into the textures/characters folder
