This afternoon I completed work on the Napoleonic pack I've been working on for sometime. Its not everything I had originally planned, but that leaves room for important. Also, my freeware FTP program evaluation period ends tomorrow, so I wanted to release what I could, while I still could.

This latest version includes the updated Spain and France kits with the new British Redcoats and Royal Navy skins. It is now fully functional with the build and Cat's Fred Bob Quest.

For now, you can go to the PA ftp server and grab the pack manually. I've informed Keith of this and he will move the file over to the regular PA mod download site at his convenience.

It is named JMV575 -- Britain, Spain, France Military Reskins -- `1793-1815`.zip. It is 14.5 mb's so you might want to download it and walk away for a while. I apologize for that.

If that doesn't work, <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/ftopic978.php" target="_blank">http://forum.piratesahoy.net/ftopic978.php</a> will contain instructions on how to reach the file until he moves it.

Before you install, please backup your program and resource folders. If you notice any bugs please tell me right away. I will be checking back here frequently to correct any mistakes as they arise.

Thanks for all the kind words as I've worked on this. I hope you enjoy the new skins. Now, to do something I haven't done for quite some time... play the game.

Arg, I installed it correctly. I be a Capt in the Royal Navy. But I cant find the skins on Redmond Island at the tailor shoppe.
 
Are you really a Captain, or are you just using the captain's skin? You need to be atleast a midshipman to buy them, not just a Privateer. Also, I don't know if you have to start a new game. I would assume so.

But I have stumbled upon something new. That being the soldiers on the street haven't changed to the new ones. The "original" ones still guard the gates, and the houses. But I started a fight with the soldiers, and after I killed the "original" ones, your "new" soldiers showed up to start attacking me. I guess what Im saying is, I would like to see the new soldiers guarding the gates, and the governors house. Not the original ones.

I checked the tailor thing. Yes, you need to be atleast a midshipman to buy the new clothes. If you don't want that, open up initmodels in hte program/models directory and change all hte minranks to 0.

In my version the new redcoats are there, I'll check.

Well, I went back and searched the file. Nowhere in any of the files concerning the British Islands does the "soldier_eng" ever come up. So, since the code I presented doesn't contain them, I have to assume that you didn't copy over all of the files... how, I don't know.

Open up, in your program/characters/init folder redmond or oxbay.c files and search for soldier_eng. If you find it, replace it as such:

offic_eng ---> brtoffic_18
soldier_eng---> brtsol18_1
soldier_eng2--> brtsol18_2
soldier_eng3--> brtsol18_3
soldier_eng4--> brtsol18_4
soldier_eng5--> brtsol18_5
soldier_eng6--> brtsol18_6

That'll do it.
 
Thank JMV, but as appears, there all in the correct spot. I still have the problem of the soldiers not being replaced. But if I start a new game, all the soldiers are replaced with the "new" soldiers, just as they should be.

Arg, I didn't want to start a new game, but I may just have too.

That may not have been a problem.
I dowloaded a one month trial period of Winzip and still have it since last august (or september, I forget which).

Sometimes shareware evals expire and then there's a nag screen to get you to register but the program will still work... Other times, the program will not let you open it after the evaluation period is over... <shrug> They're all different!
 
Then do what I would do, re download it!
Free trial version? Yeah, trial, ok...
Oh, I sure do hope that no one who works for the makers of Winzip reads this site.
