Replacement Pirate Chief

I've run across a situation in working on my new quest that I think needs to be remedied. After completing the original story line, Isenbrandt Jurcksen still appears in his house in QC. He does not respond, however. Now assuming you killed him off previously, he should not be there. I am willing to figure out how to code in a replacement for him if he is dead/prisoner/officer if someone can put together a good new Pirate Chief skin to replace him with. The quest I am working on is specific to those who have joined the Pirate "Nation". If he's alive, it can be given by Isenbrandt. If not, then I need a replacement that can kick it off. Any takers? Also, if someone just happens to have some code sitting around that they know would work to replace him, that would save me some searching and testing. If not, no worries. It is proving to be a good learning experience.

He doesn't have any dialog related to the situation, but his character does have the ship assigned to him that you meet with Silly Boy and his big toy. I've always sunk him and never boarded him, so I don't know if you meet him on deck. I'll dig a little further and find out. If he's dead for that reason, or because you got impatient with him earlier and killed him, he shouldn't be reappearing in his house. Likewise if he is either otherwise engaged in your service... or in your brig. I would like to develop some more quests for the Pirate Nation enabled characters. That seems to be an area with so much potential with very little current content. An interesting Pirate Lord would make a colorful character to employ for various purposes to that end. Likewise with the brothell, but that is harder to include as not everybody enables that. Battle Rocks is another location with good potential, being the only deserted isle as such. But not everyone uses the Direct Sailing mod with Build 13, and wouldn't have access to it.
 
the directsail mod is included in build 14, so you don't have to worry about that. forget making new content build 13 compatible. build 14 is what we are going to have anyway. i'd love more content for the pirates.
 
Well, I would like to keep it simple enough to work for both, since I enjoy the stability of Build 13 final. I think there is more content being created for Build 14 now than can be tested and fixed with the available resources. I think to adapt it from one to the other, it would just be a matter of changing some location id's.
 
I'd very much like some good new pirate stuff. There's plenty of skins that might be useful for a replacement pirate chief character. Or you can ask SuperDurnius or damski to come up with something.

As for Battle Rocks, it's actually used in Bartolomeu's Jackpot quest. You can get there even when not actually using the DirectSail mod, but you do need to have it installed. a simple virtual sailor is working on a new update for Build 13 including some more fixes and some new content, probably also including the DirectSail mod and Bartolomeu's quests.

What you can do to replace him when dead is to add a quest case that checks if he's dead ( <i>LAi_IsDead(characterFromID("Isenbrandt Jurcksen"))</i> ) and if so set him to address to "" ( <i>ChangeCharacterAddress(characterFromID("Isenbrandt Jurcksen"), "", "");</i> ) and then use the same line to put the replacement character back ( <i>ChangeCharacterAddress(characterFromID("Replacement Character"), "QC_residence", "goto1");</i> ).

Yes, thanks. Saved me a bunch of digging <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> Now I just need a name and a body. I'll dig through unused skins to see if there is anything that will work, but if anyone would like to create a new one, that would be even better.
 
Mightbe I'll see what I can do... But I don't want to promise anything...
BTW: Deside the colour of Pirate Chief theme for me...

wow, that was easier than i thought. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> actually, i never really saw myself as a pirate leader. who do you suggest then? Teague Sparrow? could be a good idea.

it really is typical of me to forget who made the skin for my character. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> i think it's called cap_hook, though. there's two of them. one in the main folder of the FTP, which is the wrong one, and one in one of the user-specific folders, which is the final version.

Somehow Morgan doesn't strike me as the "Cheif" type... I think a Pirate Chief would be some wily old rogue who's managed to outlive his peers.
