Was paying a Free Play game as a English naval officer and had my reputation up to Hero then while attacking an enemy ship my rep suddenly dropped to Bloody Terror for no resin, What would cause this.

I an using the current version of build 14

Check your Ship's Log.
Chances are there is an explanation in there.

You might've manually fired on a friendly or surrendered ship.
Or attacked ship/fort while under a friendly flag.
That's considered to be against the rules of war.

No I wasn't in manual mode and the ships icon was red but I cannot check because when It said bloody terror of the seas I loaded an old save so I cannot check the log

In that case, we cannot know for absolutely certain what happened.
If it ever does happen again, perhaps you can have a quick look in there.
If it's a bug, it needs fixing, of course.
