Revolutions?

ok to answer a couple of points made above.
@Lord Nelsonthe planks don't show up very well in the screenshot sorry but they are more prominent in the skin. they will look a bit weird at first with the curve of the gun ports being slightly different but i'm planning on making the gun desks flat instead of curved like they are now. the outline on the gun ports will be getting added in i'm adjusting the skin along with the sails and the such.the blue sections in the cage on the bow shouildn't be a problem if i'm remembering the skin correctly.

@capt. hawk. masts i found can be resized easily just increase the number of the XX YY ZZ numbers to above 1 spars can be rescaled but the XX number rotates them around the mast which is a problem and at some angles the spars disappear. the sails still remain and look good all the same.

@Lubber i'm planning on putting copper sheets on the bottom of the victory i just don't want them coming up the sides too far and looking silly. i mainly want them visible when they heel over and a stiff breeze.

i just need to add a couple of spars to the bow sprit and make sure all the sails point the right way and we should be cooking.

capt hawk have you found a way yet to move where the actual cannons poke out of the side of ship's i tried the locators but they only move where the connon smoke and such appears. would really like to put these buggers in a flat deck if i could hmmmmmm

Thanks for resize info.
About 3d cannon, you need maya or 3dmax to move them as cannons are part of 3d model.
I know nothing about 3d work.

@ Commodore John Paul Jones: what about the ones in PROGRAM?
p.s: Captain Spetre, personally i think the guns should be like that, but further apart, so that it covers the whole broadside.
the real ships had bent gun decks, because the bow and stern had to be high to withstand waves on overseas voyages.
thats why you'll find that ships like schooners and luggers have flat gun decks, because they weren't ment for overseas voyages, just coastline trips.

Sounds spot on, I imagine it will look nice through the water in calm conditions as well <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I guess a coppery colour for clean/new looking skins and a nice verdigris for the aged skins will be the thing.

no worries mate. i've played with #D a fair bit myself so might have a look into it but seems i'm the only one thinks they need to be flattened so will just have to change the skin back to bent planks.

i hope you mean a more realistic version of the skin in the pics and not a recolour of the original, that would be bad.

yeah only needa few adjustments to what i already have and i still have my work in multilayer format so won't be that hard to play around with

one thing: could you put a bit more decoration on the stern?
it looks kinda...blank.
since the stern of the game's MOWs dont allow the decoration on the real Victory, i have a suggestion, ome: add that flag and cannons decoration thing that's on the stern of the real one, or you could add a bit of the decoration of the game MOWs to it, or a mix of both.
again, i don't know what your planning to do with it, for all i know you might have something better in mind.
p.s: could you show me a zoomed in pic of the stern?

sorry RL crap has been driving me up the wall the last few days. i've made some slight changes to the skin and will see what can be done to jazz up the rear. maybe come scrolls or something. it's kinda had to judge because of the way the skin wraps but will endouvour to do my best.

i have every confidence in you. good luck, and hope that you can get around those problems.
P.S: how are the sails and rigging comming along?

i can get them all to be the right size and fun stuff like that not a problem but if you upscale anything it flickers at random. really damn annoying if you want to know the truth

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> kinda more like a strobe light then anything else. the actual masts are fine but all the spars flicker about. absolute pain in the rear but i will get it done if i have to remodel the bastards and make new gm files myself.

you have an incredible determination to get it working right, i must say!
still, dont rush, take your time.
the best things are made with patience.
good luck, Cap'n!
P.S: is that little pic on the stern the same as the one on the figurehead, or is it really Viscount Nelson's Family Crest?

the one on the stern is a mirror of the right side of it because the texture is doubled for that top section

still getting nowhere with the Gaff boom?
you said earlier that you would change the skin abit, any changes from the last pic?

i've been flat out the last few weeks sorry mate. i have hardly had a chance to scratch myself with work and i've been getting my table top wargames club into a more organised form of late. i will get it finished it's just having to go on hold for a bit sorry

its okay, i understand real life problems get in the way, it gets in the way of all the modders at some point, look at Inzane for example, he finished his ship 'H.M.S Surprise' a year after he started! but he finished it! and has another version with a full compliment of cannon on it with admiralkoch!
don't blame you, but give us an update when you start working on it again.
i'll be getting into the final tests of the third term at school next week, so i won't be able to play at all for about two weeks anyway.
i will be checking the forums everyday, i just won't be able to try any mods because of tests.
in the end it will be worth it, good grades and a nice set of mods just waiting to be tested.
anyway, looking forward to hearing from you and any update you might have.
