sailing against the wind

Ahoy how do i make the sips sailing against the wind without too much problem? When i start a new game the wind goes towards the port and then i cant move. The ship goes backwards and hits land.

damn it happenned to me too, there is 2 ways: try to sail "perpendiculary" to the wind dont be exactly against wind or go back on land and wait next day (or wait the hour changing in game if you dont want to wait one day)

Switch to Arcade Game Mode in the Options menu.
