Sails and Career Questions

Hey guys

I was just wondering a couple of things - first off - is it possible to have a career as a pirate, or not - because you have pirate listed under the different nationalities for a career.

Also - I wanted to know if changing the sails actually does anything. Right now my character's origin is france, nothing is displayed on the sails aside from teh sail colour, which I am free to choose. I changed it from france, to england, to pirate - all to no avail - there was no difference in teh flags, or in the sail. They are all greyed out when you choose them. I s there something I have to do to fly that nation's sail? Once it is 'unlocked' does teh sail choice affect who is friendly, and who is not to you?

not at all.
at least not for me. i'm with the Spain which is allied w France. When i put the pirates flag on me ship, none of these 2 nations shots at me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Thanks victhor75! But does anyone know if you can have a career as a pirate?

well im not shure, but its not much of a career, pirates never went on missions, they were freelancers, did as they pleased and tried to avoid the navies of the nations.

This is very true - I just figured that since there was a career icon for pirates, that it at least kept track of what you were doing as a pirate, and that there was some way that it elevated your status in some form.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT:
I may be wrong, but I believe if you are a pirate, and defeat the "pirate king" you become the defacto ruler of "Libertalia", the pirate republic in the game. I haven't gotten that far yet; just what I've read about...
