Same ol Sowrds

Sure, but why "Nathaniel"? Why "Hawk", too? I mean, it could have been "Robin" or "Canary", or something like that...

(things that make you go, HMMMMM!) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

I love that little guy, really enjoyed making him. Sheesh, I've been on this site all morning, I REALLY should get to work here... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Now that would be a bit difficult, considering I´m still in Brussels and my game files some hundred kilometers away. I´m missing them, especially when reading all the great stuff that´s been done lately

Ah, thought you'd returned already. I'll bet you're missing them! So much has gone on, lately. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" /> How long will you be in Brussels? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Hope you're having a good and productive time! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> It must be frustrating to be without your files, tho. I usually travel with either disks or a USB portable hard drive so I can work elsewhere... Used to use a laptop but technology has grown so that my poor little laptop has become mostly obsolete.

What's funny is that I found an old hard drive the other day while rummaging around - it was the original drive for my original FIRST computer - 89 MB, I think it was, and I remember it ran on DOS with a Windows 3.1 shell... Heh...

Who would have thought back then that we'd be into GIGABYTES, processors AND hard drives... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

Oh, I could easily have taken my files with me, but what good would that be, without the game installed for testing? And, being in a foreign city I´ve got some other things to do than fiddle with game files all in my idle time.

What proverb could go against that?

Nathaniel Hawk and Jack Sparrow....their surnames are names of the birds!!!!they always escape that's why their surnames are named from birds <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> .... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Now you say it, that may be why they put Hawk in. A bird, just like Sparrow. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

(BTW: It was Petros)

<!--QuoteBegin-Hu Kwan Do+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Hu Kwan Do)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Well, that'll be useful. Can a blacksmith make any sword a "Fine" sword, because my solingen rapier is at excellent and has 98% block. I was told it had 100% block. and besides, I cant find any "Fine" anything. Even Toff gave me a badly worn Nicholas Sharpe blade, and I had to get it done in a blacksmith. Also, in the house besinde the residence on Isla Muelle, I found average Cardinal's Guard and average Solingen at level 2. Is that supposed to happen?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Blacksmiths should be able to upgrade swords to fine, yes, but excellent is better. Toff is supposed to give you an avarage one, until I made my post Build 12 change that makes him give you an excellent one (supposedly). In Build 12, you can indeed run into really good swords when still at very low levels. I believe that will be fixed in Build 13. I think Nathan did something about it.

<!--QuoteBegin-CatalinaThePirate+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(CatalinaThePirate)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->The blacksmith should be able to upgrade your excellent blade.  If they refuse (I think some of them are written to be a bit on the fractious side, heh!), find a different swordsmith. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->That would be downgrading; excellent's better than just fine. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

<!--QuoteBegin-v_Grimmelshausen+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(v_Grimmelshausen)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->The Douwesen blacksmith - so far the only one I´ve met - always provides me with excellent blades, no trouble. But I might need another model for him, something more blacksmith-like (now, how does a "typical" blacksmith look, I wonder), I took playing with Nathaniel Hawk (or Blaze Devlin - why this guy´s got two names is still something of a mystery to me. Any explanations?) again.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Alan Smithee already made five blacksmith characters that will soon be implemented into the game. Extract one out of my modpack and set the Douwesen blacksmith model to that.

(Hmm. I seem to have been posting quite a lot of superfluous stuff here. Never mind me repeating things that have already been said. Sorry. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> )

And I thought we'd get a good flogging for double-posting! And what about quadruple-posting?! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> I think keelhauling is in order, Mr. Boelen... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Grimm, the reason Nathaniel has two names, is that Blaze Devlin was his original name that was thought up for Sea Dogs II, but was changed to Nathaniel <i>Hawk</i>, probably to fit the "bird-name" theme of PotC. (Can you guess who the other bird-name is? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />)
