saving a game

Im sorry if this has been discussed before but I am having a problem when determining when I can save my game. sometimes I cant save when I am in town but sometimes I can. Sometimes I cant save when I am aboard my ship (non-combat) but sometimes I can. Any ideas? Thanks.

you should be able to save it town so i dont know what that problem is and on your ship, you can only save while on the map

There are two places where you can save: On land and on the worldmap. You can never save while you are in 3D sailing mode or during boardings or in your captain's cabin.

However, it seems that sometimes the game crashes when saving. Beats me why that happens. Seems to be completely random.

Yeah, you should be able to save in all land locations as well as map mode, but not sea mode. Make sure your save regularly... there's still a number of bugs and occassional CTDs.
