it was rare in that time I guess, so its extremely expensive
with that you can make your officers or yourself better..
nice idea??
I also hear about to become leader of a town, by breaching the walls and lead your armo to the town?
can somebody explain that more for me , I dont understand that.. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Forgive me, but i beleive schools and education was something that existed back in the homelands, if any education took place in the colonies it most likley was apprenticeship or rich ppl who got a personal teacher.

Pirates don't go to school.
Their teacher is the sea.
Their education is plunder, sailing and swashbuckling.
Their hobbies are swordfighting, gunnery, boarding and drinking rum.

Yes, Merciless Mark is right. Only the nobility got education.
And a school to qualify officers, was not seen until the 19th century.

Then we could change history by being the first people to start a naval academy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Hmm.... Guys.... Forget about a purchasable school....
But, you can make a small british naval academy!!!
Where you fist complete quests, and share money to get in, then you need to wear a british naval uniform, when you go there, and you need to complete tasks to learn first in land (1-5 levels of fencing training, with more, and more able opponents, shooting training, like the first, then sailing training with a tartane, boarding training, all against british soldiers, but they just 'pretend' dying. (you wont get a reputation loss))
tehn finally you need to complete a more complicated task, to finish the academy, and became lieutenant, and get full friendly attitude from england, and lots of experience, then, If after taht you still go to the academy, for very special quests, after that....
you got a special british frigate, to commandeer! ANd after this you can go to governors (or a new building in Redmond: naval command?) for really hard missions, which you can only do with the given frigate.......

WHAT are you say, mateys? A full naval learning&adventure career from filthy dog until commander? It dont seems that hard, just a series of quests.
ANd, of course, If you took a part on a naval quest, or education, until its done, you need to wear the appropriate uniform, of course, and command the finally given ship..... And until that all of your officers wear naval uniform. But in your 'free time' you remain pirate.... Lol

Hmm, let me make this idea better. Youre right, Mr.Cotton. If you say so, that there wasnt any school like this, just do the same thing, but call it 'naval command', and its bit different, like this:

First trainings remain the same: fencing, firing guns, and maybe 'appropriate official solider talk' like, you need to learn, and choose, what string you need to use, when arrest someone, question someone, etc.

After any beginner training, you need to give 'guard duty' (search given areas near town to kill guys)
and after every guard, you got some miserably little money.
But, If you keep going into the naval command (you only can go in if you wear naval uniform, and your officers too) you get more and more training, and get more and more ranks. hmm.. Let the first be 'footman', then 'corporal' (if there was a rank like this back then) 'sergeant'...

then, if you are became sergeant, a new duty avaliable also, besides 'guard': the 'arrest' duty (find and arrest a guy with given look, and name) Then, If you reach the 'lieutenant' level, you start sea training. Sailing training with a tartane, gunfiring training with a lugger). But you still have to do land duties. But, after you reach the rank: apprentice captain, you got a very strong, but little ship, like a modified brig? yes! mutch faster, and has more guns, but REALLY REALLY few cargo hold. (coastal guardship) and, then you need to do scout duties around the island, and no more land duties. But only with the given brig. And, Then, after some duties, there gonna be a special alert: to find, and eradicate a stronger pirate ship, whats closing to the island. And after that, you reach the rank of true 'captain', and you get the mentioned english frigate..... Then, sometimes you can go to naval command, (in uniform of course) and require duties, to find, and eradicate a ship in deep sea, or harass an enemy port, escort a ship, or something....

I let you work on the next ranks and ships idea, hehe....

Of course, your 'naval career' only exist in the times, when you wear the uniform, go to the command, and later, when you commandeer the given ship. If you loose a given ship, you need to restart the whole careeer.... (hehe, rank loss) so, its not so realistic, to get 'holidays' when you are a naval mariner, But hey, its a game, and I bet, you want your own character look sometimes, and your own, old ship, or fleet. Just for a more great gameplay, you can be a mariner only, when you go there to require duty, and wear the uniform.

I think, this idea both supports (more than the school) historical realism, and greeeat gameplay. If someone teach me about the POTC file and class system, and at least 3-4 guys, who know how to do quests help, we can do this easily. But remain on the idea yet: how you like it?

Hey, ya landlubbers, just dont loose the trail! I want some opinions, and good words, to have enough courage to put this idea in-development in the future!

See above

Aggressive passing fee collecter in the high sea:
The Wolf

I think that that military academie a good idea is, you makes it more interesting to join the navy instead of being pirate, or to turn pirate after it!!

the academy is obsolete, but talking about the naval command:

Lol, thats the whole point. Because its mainly a pirate game, your navy career is only 'on' when you completing a given task, or when you enter the naval command's building... In any other time youre on vacation, and can be a pirate. Or, If you prefer, until one men dont given up his whole navy career, he can only attack totally hostile nations to england, or otherwise he loose all ranks.

when you make an idea there has to be someone to put you down and ill think ill start.(no offence) If you want this create a completely different game and call it sea academy.

Theres no need for this. This is just one 'career line', maybe momentary, if someone want to sail under the navy flag, and want to feel himself His Majestys Captain. Not need additional resources, models, maybe not even a new building.

plain simple quest, like all the others ingame.
Not even holds more than 40-50 lines in text file, not exceeds 100kb....
I just need to learn the coding of it.

I actually like this school idea.. hehe. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" /> <b>but</b> , only as an interface for officers with an "educate" button. or something simple. Say if you wanted to spend an outrageous sum of money on giving an officer some experience points or more abilities.

Blowing up nobles and their kiddies ( someone pleeze make models for kids. Really, there were definitely children in the caribbean, weren't there?) would be fun. Although the school would have to be targetable by ship, or maybe you'd haveta somehow get your heavy artillery on land (which, I imagine, would also be extremely satisfying. Just imagine wheeling a cannon around and blowing the helpless townspeople to smithereens.) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

The idea is super, not only that with education for officers and adding children (which should be reasonably easy to achieve) but I'm affraid that taking a cannon on land journey and destroying some buildings together with inhabitants would be next to impossible; first because of those destroyed buildings, although they're already made in some part, but immediate displaying them would be impossible, and later due to problems with creating proper animations of people transporting that artillery. It recalls me problems with muskets: the reason why they aren't done but used as pistols instead is difficulties with creating locator and proper animation. However problem with animation would be simply solved with use of CCC's Building Set: Nathaniel with crew and officers would come close to building which he waould want to destroy, order officer to build a fort/stronghold before it, give order to shoot at building, and finally make order to disassemble fort. I'm only not sure how to solve problem with local authorities - they'd usually have much to say against creating a military building in the center of the town.

I think his talking about like school as in a tutorial kinda thing but u get to level up and just be a brit soldier... Like boot camp... Pirates were iether soldiers, or sailors before hand...

What about a French army acedemy were u learn how to surrender???

Learn how to carry a really big white flag...
