seadogs.c error

I noted in an earlier post, that other people have had problems resulting in an errorlog saying error in line 759 in seadogs.c... have anyone found a way to counter this problem? because I keep getting it... and its really annoying...
 
also alot of other files have been copied to the main directory of my game... they are all .b files... how come it copies them to there? it doesnt make any real sense to me... unless its for using during gameplay and after a crash it havent had time to delete them...
 
You can remove these files. They are there because you enabled this line in engine.ini

codefiles = 1

Set it to

codefiles = 0

and everything is fine.

One question from my side: Do you get an error.log file when the application crashes? I only get compile.log and system.log. And neither file contains information on the erroneous source file or the line.
 
Hmm I'm not getting error logs either. Sulan Keep your eyes out for traders having no stock before hand, as I've noticed that is an indicator of an error less crash coming up. Well it is on mine anyway.
 
sulan, thanks, ill be sure to do that mate... sometimes I get an error.log... but not always... sometimes I only get a compile.log and system.log...

Fudge dragon, half the time I go to a store or trader they haven't got anything... I found this rather weird, but it does not seem an indicator for a breakdown... sometimes I hit a lucky streak and can play for hours after having seen empty merchants... I dont know if this is the same, but many of the trader booths are empty, meaning that the trader have deserted them... also I noticed that a tailor (not certain, but i think it was in greenford) was missing from the store...
 
In the new towns (non-stock POTC like Havana, Santo Domingo etc.) there are no trader tents as far as I was able to see, but I don't think it is a bug, more a missing feature to be implemented. The missing tailor was in Oxbay if I remember correctly.

I will look out for those lazy traders ...
 
okay... you do that... btw, do you know if its somehow possible to alter the availability of a single item? Ive been all over the caribbean to find an ammonition pouch, because i hate having only 6 bullets for my to handcannons... but i really cant find them...

also, it seems to me, that if one trader in a town loses his stock, all the other does too... i noted this in greenford, where I all of a sudden couldnt buy jack****... and once they lose their stock, they doesnt seem to ever get it back...
 
No, I don't know how to change the chance of item availability, though it is certainly possible. However, I noticed that ammunition pouches and powder flasks are much more often found in chests on boarded ships or in dungeons than at traders. So maybe you need to look at a different location.
 
aye, that sounds like a good course of action indeed... more boarding and less porting <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Of course, at some point I should be getting on with the main quest... but whenever I do that I meet a french merchantfleet, and its very hard for me to pass up such chances <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
 
Well your luckier than me. I cant seem to play past certain points. If it crashes once, even if I load a previous game I cant get past the same area. Its stopping me smuggle sugar from Dowesen to Conceaou
 
I have those crash when leaving island of encounter with ships.
But i don't notice any problems with merchants or traders.

Although, i always having system.log and compile.log i have few times error.log
Nor any of that files where explicit enough to indicate where the main problem comes.

i thinks after so many crashes that they come from missing or bad ships model.
I never notice any crash on land mode.
