I'm a computer illiterate, lets get that into the open air.

When I play potc for a little while, I have to be very careful when I go to a loading screen (especialy for going off to sea), because it has a tendancy for random crashes. Some times it causes such an error that my system is reduced to a crippled version of safemode, and I need to restart. I'm sure this isn't good for my computer.

Anything you tech wizards could recomnd to ease the crashing?

I am not that computer literate myself but there are plenty of computer smart people at this site. Several questions need to be asked. 1) are you playing the stock POTC game? 2) have you added the 12.1 mod or Pieters mod pack? Also, you may want to post your computer spec's to prevent that question from being asked by someone who can help you.

With the above information posted someone will have an answer for you. Sorry I could not resolve your problem.

1. If you mean by stock, you mean without the build mod, then no. If you mean did I buy it off the shelf, then yes.

2. 12.1 build mod? I'm not sure which version I have. Pieters mod pack? no, not even sure what it is.

I have a suggestion that may help your unstable game, and that is to reinitialize the game. It's very simple, just load your last saved game and hit the "I" key. The game will stall for a moment or two, and then a lot of type will run up the side of your screen in the log. Hopefully that should fix the instability.

The other thing you should do is hit the "T" key. That won't do much visibly except tell you the HP and name of the last person you happened to encounter, but it does things "underneath" the surface of the game to (hopefully) fix it.
