serious problem

i have noticed, that if i do Alt+Tab ENGINE.exe crashes immediately. u got same problem too?
 
The crash when Alt-Tabbing is a known issue. It is easily corrected by running the game in a window. Then you can tab out without any problems.

Other issues are also know. About the most fun and least likely to crash is Secrets of Far Seas with the eng translation. Adds a lot to the game, crashes far less frequently and is a lot more fun.

As noted by Nosie, the story is a tad confusing though, as I'm still far from completing the translation.

Where can i get Secrets of the Far Seas expansion?
I looked through all latvian trackers but didnt find it. Is there available english version of this expansion? Seems that even Thepiratebay dont have it...

I'm trying to sort of better the english translations at the moment, which is a job in itself as a lot still has russian words and some tranlations hard to understand! Found 3 dialogfiles not tranlated at all...... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/readon.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="readon.gif" />

Tried to sort out the english as well with limited success. Anyhow did all that and replaced all, put them in my game and it works!! The list of files not translated: Chat Quester 1, Guadelupe Priest Dialog, Guadelupe Shipyarder Dialog, Isla Mona Tavernowner Dialog, JFK Dialog, Manjak prison Dialog, St Kitts headcontrabandit Dialog and Soldier Dialog (2).... Also a lot of people want to go to Pt. Royal? I gather it's a Town not taken out of the Dialog files??
I left the none translated dialogs out of my game and get the Error one instead, so I do not try to play them as it gets me into trouble since my russian is very limited! The Storyline is a mess, for instant find a translater and I'm taking a girl to StKitts forever, trying to buy a Slave etc.
Other side jobs work. i.e. Store owner, shipyarder and taking ships to other towns exept the one where you get asked to take them to Pt Royal ofcourse!
Nearly forgot, start of the game when runnig thru the jungle talking to the guy in the Tavern, running back to the beach, getting transported to the lighthouse, running thru the jungle to the town, getting stuck in front of the gate with a closed lock sign! The one working for me is talking to the guy in the tavern having problems with his Captain, Mutiny etc!

Indeed Nosie, there are a LOT of files I've not yet finished translating and as far as I knew, even more that I hadn't yet touched. In fact I've got both an original russian version AND the english translation BOTH installed, specifically so I can go through the files in the original russian and do what I can to get a translation from google that I can compare to already translated files and make sure everything still made sense after the translation.

Its very tedious and involved work, especially since you can't just copy and paste an entire file into a translation program, because the translator usually totally destroys the programmatic structure. So you just have to pull out ONLY the russian texts, do a solid translation and then put it back in place for the final english version.

Try translation.ru, it translates much more adequately from Russian.
 
Does the modpack use the old .h files that contain only the text and not the code?
 
Cap'n Drow, I found out how hard and tidious it is and I'm "only" trying to sort out the english translation of the Dialog files! I made a copy of the english Dialog folder taking out one file at a time and placing it into a new folder 'till all done!
I'm trying to make sense of the Quest text at the moment and some of it doesn't make any sense to me even reading it over and over.....

I'll be able to help in few weeks, cuz I'm still stuck in exams now. Actually, don't seems so hard after reading thos russian sentences Nosie posted...
 
Cool, let me know when you are ready to get started Eob. I'll problably have you grab both the original russian and the english work thats been done. I'd like someone that speaks both languages fluently make sure that our existing translations are solid and make proper sense.

The other thing we need is someone that can go through all the russian texts, put together a listing of all the characters throughout each storyline and write out a summary of each story so we have a better idea of what is going on with the interactions. One of the biggest problems I've been having is figuring out what the real story is so I maintain the flavor of the original russian with our translation.

Once thats all done we can go through each file and get the proper translations in place.

As long as we don't modify any code initially, but just text our bug hunting should be minimal with most of it consisting of looking for spelling and grammatical errors.

Let me know what you think of this suggested methodology.

Well, that seems OK to me, 2 more weeks and i can start working.
Btw, I'ms so damn lucky, just passed an exam in Electronics, seems that this one was hardest in this session. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
