Happy new year,
I'm not 100% shure - but if I recall - I think the K key toggled the rum/walk. Hope I'm rite it's been a week of not playing.

Captain_Ling is correct. The "K" key is for auto or always run.
The "K" key allows you to toggle back and forth so "W" can be walk and/or run.
You can also leave "auto run" ("K") turned off and assign another key to "Run" in the in game Options screen.
This way you can run by pressing two keys simultaneously, walk (W) & the run key you choose.
Once you release the run key, but continue to press the "W", you go back to walking.Captain-Gwynn
