Several another remarks and questions from playing beta Build 13

Rad

Privateer
I am at 26 level, Britain is friendly toward me again and my reputation is Bloddy Terror. I think I will hardly achieve any better rating in this Build 13 although I am trying as I can. But never mind. It´s sufficient for trading and repairing. In the main storyline I am in stadium looking for Raul Rheims, alleged traitor of British crown. So, I can say I got through some critical places in the main plot but it wasn´t without some problems.
When I set out with bark Oisseau from Oxbay and sank it I can´t get into the sea map again. Athough I tried several times. I had to return back and set out from Oxbay again and this time I captured this bark Oisseau. In the end game came to it´s senses and sea map icon appeared at last and I could return into the sea map and return to Redmond. I don´t know what happened here, it seems to me game is quite complicated already and sometimes as though something happened got stucked here.

I would like to say as we discussed somewhere else already, really, no friendly governors give me any pirates hunting quests and it´s a pitty. I don´t know why and I hope it will be corrected.

Another smaller bug appeared to me again that pursues me almost constantly, even in older versions and it still persists somehow in the game. The worst thing is that it seems to me it happens only occasionally. I took quest from Isla Muelle´s merchant to deliver goods to Conceicao´s merchant. After my arriving at Conceicao and talking with this merchant there was no possibility to fulfil the quest because Nathaniel first said he wants to talk and then after merchant ask what he wants, Nathaniel said I have nothing to say to you this time (or something similar) and all is spoiled. I tried every options in this menu but there was nothing which would allow hand over the goods and finish the quest.

In icon menu almost no perks (or abilities) appear to me although I have some of them and they should appear here. For example repairing and some another. I don´t know why.

In BuildSettings.h I have adjusted the shipyard conditions the way so as completly all ships appeared in the shipyards´menus but no first class ships are anywhere present. I don´t know way. Maybe I have not it adjusted properly. I must have a look at it yet.

Although I have all cannons experiences at maximium they could should even a little more exactly yet with smaller diameter of impact. I have Battle ship now and when I shoot my broadside salvo at ship that is trying to escape me, ergo to his stern, a lot of bullets goes completey off. The same is in the case when I shoot at small ships, then quite a lot of bullets goes unecesarilly off. And when I will be sailing Manowar the situation will be even worse because as I know the bigger ship you have and the smaller ship is your target the more bullets goes off. But I think if we assume the hero is at maximum of his cannons experiences and is master in that, even the most distant cannons from the center of the hull ergo even the first cannon the closest to bow or the cannon the closest to stern at side part of the ship could be turned partially and thus aimed at the hostile ship. In other way these cannons wouldn´t have much meaning there. So I think the dispersion of broadside salvo could be done a little smaller yet. Not to shoot completely to one small place but there is still quite big reserve in that.

When I sell my personal things from my inventory I can sell only several swords and after that I can´t sell any of them already. Maybe is it for the reason they are too much expensive and vendor doesn´t have enough money? I don´t know but anyway it is quite bothering.

I can remeber anything else just know, maybe later. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> This is along one!
Oisseau: I've reported this bug before and all you have to do is after capture of the ship you're
back at sea without the shortcut to the map click on the cabin or deck shortcut and after that
click on the sea shortcut(when in the cabin)and the mapshortcut is back in the menu!
The Conceicao trader one I'm suspecting that you take longer than a month sailing to get
to Conceicao as I never had that problem ever! Selling the cargo in another port could be
another reason!
All the other ones are settings you can change in Buildsettings.h
I could give you the correct ones but would have to look them up.
Hope this helps and happy pirating! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

Nosie, I sailed to Conceicao immediatelly without any prolonging. As I wrote it seems to me it appears occasionaly but I have really bad luck at this phenomenon. It happened to me several times in the past and especially in Conceicao, I think.

So, what about this Oisseau concerns, now I will know it. But I can use it only in some future. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And what about the perks - skills in the icon menu as repairing or instant boarding and so on concerns. Do you have them in your game? And what about the problems with selling some items? Don´t you have any? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

And if you know it, could you tell me how to adjust it, so as the first class ships would appear in my shipyards? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I believe the entries under <b>MISCELLANEOUS SETTINGS </b> in the Buildsettings.h file are what control this
Look at:
#define SHIPYARD_RPG_LPC

Also under the "<b>SHIP HANDLING - SHIPYARD AND RANDOM SHIPS</b>" section:in ...

Look carefully at:
#define SHIPYARD_SELL_ALL_CLASSES
#define SHIPYARD_RPG_LPC

Hey Pieter, I think I just found a bug ...

Wouldn't ... "#define SHIPYARD_RPG_LPC"
listed in two places in Buildsettings.h and with different setting cause problems?

Petros, I know it I adjusted it and as you could read in my post all the ships are present in my shipyards except first class ships. There is several items and possibility and I would need to know the exact adjusting for appearing completly all ships. Maybe I will find out it by myself maybe not, I don´t know. I will have a look at it yet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I noticed a bug with the Quick Repairs ability. It is executed as soon as you open the abilities menu with the result that you won't actually see it. Why this happens, I don't know. It used to work just fine and nothing was changed. IncredibleHat had a look at it, but didn't understand why this problem occurs either. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Did you turn off the Realistic Ship Purchase mod? If you do so, you must start a new game or press during your current game. I heard reports of class 1 ships not being available at shipyards, but I have checked that issue myself and although class 1 ships are indeed pretty rare, I have at least encountered one at the Redmond shipyard*. I believe that with the RPG Shipyard mod the class of the ships available is based on the town size and class 1 ships would only be available in the largest of large towns. Not sure which towns these are.
* Note: This was while using my own new version of the Realistic Shipyard mod and not while using the version currently in the modpack.

Note about the Realistic Ship Purchase mod: I am removing this mod from the next beta version. Once Build 13 is released, I will replace this mod with my own version, which does not prevent you from buying big class ships anymore, but you will need to have a LoM and the required navy rank to be able to buy such ships.

That might indeed be the case. You can be sure if this is the case by comparing the two values shown on attached screenshot. If the lower right value (the trader's money) is lower than the sell value, then you can indeed not sell the item, because the trader doesn't have enough money. Usually, stall traders have less money than stores, I think. Also: It probaby depends on town size. Oxbay is a small town, while Redmond is a bug town.

I hope these comments of mine help. Thanks for testing the game! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

Yes. It would cause an instantaneous crash, because of a define redefinition. The game wouldn't even run that way. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Thanks Pieter for your comments. Although I just don´t understant exactly everything what you tried to explain me I will be concentrating on this issue of 1 class ships and will do some another experimets in adjusting about this issue in BuildSettings.h. I like very much these Manowars and I always used them in game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I continue. I gave here part of BuildSetting.h.

6) (only used if SY_RPG_STYLE is on)" 3
// EX: set to 3, a level 4 player can buy class 5, 6 and 7... level 3 player can only buy class 6 and 7... level
13+ can buy any class <b>(except ships of the line class 1 - those are NEVER SOLD!!!)</b>

Pieter, can you tell me who came up with it? Although as I saw my RPG style for ships in Miscellaneous section is switched off no Manowar appeared in my Shipyards so far.

After all Manowars have been always the pride of this game - the great light yellow MOW - greenly and goldenly ornamented of Spanish design I think, the black MOW with statue of Angel on the bow of Pirate design and some other types.

Can you imagine Pieter how many work some people had to devote in order to create such amazing ships as MOW are and now they are almost removed from the game? You can say we can board and capture them but I think it isn´t sufficient. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Some of the new Items put into the game are 'Fun' items
and not for sale! I only use the bombs as you can blow up
all of your opponents with one or two bombs.
As far as perks and skills are concerned I like to cheat there.
I change some of the settings in the Character.ini file.
So most of the time I've got the boarding perk when starting the game.
You can change your reputation in this file also.
If interested in these settings, let me know! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />

Hi Nosie. Thank you for your offer. But that´s not what I meant. I don´t want to use cheats I only want so as the game works as it is supposed to be. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Hello Rad!

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

On the subject of the big powerful Class 1 ships, I honestly believe that making them very rare truly <b><i>IS</i></b> how the game is supposed to work. Historically, those ships were extremely rare, and so valuable to a Nation's power that <u>selling</u> one to a Privateer would be unthinkable.

Now if you were to become an OFFICER in that Nation's Navy, it would make sense that as you gained rank, gradually larger ships would be available to you, and if you held a high enough rank, that Nation would allow you to Captain one of their rare and prized Warships - like your beloved Manowars. This would be a rare and great honor for any sea Captain, and should certainly be something to work towards in the game!!!

I believe that those large ships have not been REMOVED from the game, they are just rare, and that is how the game is truly supposed to be. If that idea makes you feel like this: <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> then perhaps there should be a cheat made so that you can have as many Manowars as you like.

It is a game, and we should all enjoy playing it the way we like to!

Anyway, those are just my thoughts on shipyards.

Cheers to all, and good sailing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />

H.M.M.

To Rad: IncredibleHat made the RPG shipyard mod. I suppose he made class 1 ships unbuyable because of realism reasons. However, they still sail around the oceans, so they're still quite available. Also: Make SURE you turn OFF REALISTIC_SHIP_PURCHASE in BuildSettings.h, because that will make all large ships unbuyable. If you use Build 13 Beta 2, this mod is removed, so it will always be turned off.

Anyway: I NEVER remove any content from the game if I can help it. And I certainly didn't remove Manowars. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

It will work exactly like that in Build 13.1. I already coded it in several weeks ago, but it needs testing, so this mod will not be in Build 13.
