I'll proly get the majority of the current ships in build_13 ported over but before i give them to CyberOps or release as a seperate mod i will need the model owners permission to release them for AoP first.A readme will be included with the owners name.

(MODEL OWNERS PLEASE POST IF YOUR MODELS CAN BE RELEASED FOR AOP)

"Click the pic to maximize." *** LIST UPDATED 10/24/06 ***

In game screenshots are here:
<a href="http://home.earthlink.net/~phaser69/" target="_blank">http://home.earthlink.net/~phaser69/</a>

* I also need someone who can adjust the loadout specs so the ships are balanced
* I need walk/sailorspoints for some models
* I need lights/flares on some models

**PM me if ya can help**

I'm actually wanting to model up some entirely new stuff myself. Check my Mods lists posting for a bit more detail about my ideas.

Just investigating info on what I'll need to have to make the models right now. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to use Lightwave to do it. If I'm not, I'll have to get some new tools.

Cap'n Drow

I use these to make models but i'm not making any atm just porting.

3DsMAX
Photoshop 2 CS2
TOOL
TXConvertor
HexEditor
GMViewer

The modelling part should be no problem as long as I get a solid understanding of locators, what locators do (ie a locator listing so I know what in the world I'm supposed to be setting them to) and things of that nature. I'm just hoping lightwave will do the job, I know its got a vrml import and export, just not entirely sure just how compatible it will be yet.

If you have any suggestions, ideas or things you think would help me with my overall plans, feel free to let me know.

Cap'n Drow

I have ported the better black pearl ingame. Kazeites one. But you don`t have to use those modelling programs. They work without it.

Looks great. Is it possible to release these as a seperate mod as well? Not everyone can d/l a 700+ MB mod =P

Yup but not till the owners of the models say its ok to release them for Aop

Send them PMs. Most people are not likely to visit the AoP forums. Also: SOme of the models might be stock PotC models that have been unmodded, so I don't know who you would need to ask for permission for those. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Once I've got all the tools and stuff figured out, I'll definitely help out any way I can.

Cap'n Drow

Sure you can use the walk files from potc for the new ported ships, but in AOP you have to use walk files and sailorspoints and without the sailorspoints there is no crew on deck,in potc there is only 2 sailorspoint files and they are for a monowar and a battleship if ya try to use them "ie rename it for a different ship" your crew will walk on air because the files are for those 2 HUGE ships and thier deck layouts,so basically i have to edit the sailorspoints in AOP to accomadate the ported ships.In other words for example the lugger walk/sailorspoints in AOP wont match the luggerVML even if ya use the walk files for the LuggerVML it doesn't have its own sailorspoint file as the ships are different sizes and the deck layouts are different so the AOP lugger sailorspoints will have the crew on the LuggerVML walk on air and climb invisible ropes.

Sounds problematic since the files are a bunch of #'s, someone would have to take the time and play with each entry untill it's just right.

Yup thats why i've asked for help, if i do it myself its gonna take awile before i can release the model pack,unless someone knows a quick way to create a sailorspoints file.

**EDIT**

Since potc really only uses walk files i wonder if in AOP some were in the code i can disable the ships using the sailorspoints and only call for the walk files?

The sailorspoints files in PotC actually came from AoP; they were added in the Build 13 Beta. No PotC ship actually uses a sailorspoints file. I'm not even sure if the AoP ships in PotC do use the sailorspoints files. What are those files used for exactly?

So, sailorspoints in AoP are the same thing as walk files in PotC?

Also, I hereby give my permission to include my <i>Black Pearl</i> in the mod <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It is said that AoP uses the walk files as well. So PotC uses walk files only and AoP uses walk files and sailorspoints. I don't quite understand it; why should they need the sailorspoints files when it works fine with walk files only? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

if you remove the sailorspoint files and keep just the walk files there is no crew on deck in AOP

But has anyone got any idea what those files actually do? Apart from the fact that they are required? Does anyone know what the values in there mean?
