Morgan Terror is now publishing a captain log (please see threads Captain's log and captain's log, full story) which describes adventures of his alter ego in the Caribbean. Recently, A Simple Virtual Sailor described how he dealed with logbook in old, good Seadogs. I think that making a mod which will write down events and even allowing player to write entries by hand would be possible, albeit possibilities of its "editor" would be quite limited. The open question also remains: how much data we could write down this way? I believe that we could even "dump" that log on disk in separate file and write additional, external program which would do some conversion to write that log in some form good for "human eye".

Of course, it's only idea. Before I'll do something with that, I must win all battles against current bugs and later finish my current mods (capture colonies and different flag - which I didn't completely implemented yet!!!).

Meanwhile, I'm interested in your opinions and suggestions, please.

Sounds like a nice idea for when you have got your other mods done. You might want to check Nathan Kell's files that I put up on the FTP a while ago. I recall that he did try something to that effect a long time ago and I think some of the relevant code is still in there. Might be of some use. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
