Ship MenuBook

Ahoy, mates! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

I was installing the Build 14 Alpha 8 now and then i thought about a weird thing.

What about creating a Ship MenuBook here in the forum?

When you go to the shipyard, you are offered all the ships they have and you can see the info of the ships.

But why dont make it outside the game aswell?

My idea is to create a topic in the forum with the pictures and info of ALL the ships that have in the game.

There are hundreds of ships in the game now, comparing with the 16 or less ships in the stock game, but i want to see how beautifull and good are the ships. Unfortunately, as far as i know, the only way to see every ship of the game is playing and trying to take the ship by a way or another. But if we create this topic, it would save us the job (im pretty tired of buying or capturing ships just to see them and to know their info :p).

Do anyone agree?

I mean, this topic wont be necessary, but usefull for some people ^^

oh, give me a ship and i'll make a discription. what's first? keep on mind though that i'll only be able to make a disciption of personal opinion, not actual numbers. also, the ship index on pieter's site could be a great help. maybe you'd better look at that first.

Additionally, if those pictures of ship had form of squares it would greatly help me in improving interface by adding them into a game. I'd also import Morgan Terror's descriptions into a game as well.

allright, what's first? keep in mind though that i don't know all ships. only all the stock models and some variations on them.

Have you seen <a href="http://s31clan.com/privateftps/pietersmods/ships.htm" target="_blank">this</a> page I made yet?
Contains an almost-complete list of all ships in the game.

I was looking for that page, thanks, Pieter <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Well, my idea is basically the same as the site mentioned by Pieter, but instead of those info only, we would have a complete info like turn rate, speed rate, cargo capacity, number of guns, etc.....aswell as the description of every ship, like Morgan said he could do.

I personally sailed less than 15% of all those ships that are in the game, so i cant be of much help in my own idea, but the pictures arent a problem, since that page already have all them. The only things needed are the info and the description.

lets start with the smallest ship....the boat <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> then the gunboat and the tartanes and the list goes on

the boat? isn't that just the tartane?

anyway, i hope these aren't too long. i'll shorten them if neccesary.

<i>Tartane: Simple little craft rigged up with a single lateen. Primarily used as lifeboat and fishing vessel. Should you be forced to use it in open sea, get to a port as soon as possible. They cannot take much and are purely for getting you to safety, not into danger.</i>

<i>Gunboat: Being of an innovative design, gunboats are primarily used by landing parties that need gunfire support, but can't get any. They are armed with a light cannon and four swivel guns, and are rigged with up a lateen. It has also been attempted to use them in ocean combat, with varying success.</i>

<i>War Tartane: Larger than tartanes and gunboats, they where designed with having a combat-suited vessel that is difficult to hit in mind. Rigged with two lateens, they are more suitable for open sea than the regular tartane, and more agile. They are, however, still very vulnerable to heavy gunfire.</i>

You should add a footnote for all three: <i>Anybody crazy enough to use these as their primary craft fully deserves to be blown out of the water, on no more merit than sheer idiocy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> </i>

i just happen tho have taken a pinnace in one of those floating coffins. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> How in sam hell did you do that? I took a French Man o' War in my trusty Lugger VML once ages ago. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

but the french are cowards anyway. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

oh, i was sailing along with my little gunboat and got entangled in a massive seabattle. then i just decided to go badass and sailed back home with a whole fleet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> kamikaze tactics DO work, you know. it's either board or sink when you try ramming them.

Actually, the idiot captain decided to take on Redmond's fort and me at once, but failed to consider the wind - he got himself good and stuck in the side of a cliff, and I slowly picked off his crew. Fun times. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Wouldn't you just get run over? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I suppose we should take this to the proper thread? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

nearly did that myself once. exactly the same situation, in fact.

not if you poke them from the side. then there's a chance you'll get flinged into the enemy ship instead of the ocean. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

oh, it already excists. just look for it.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Does your crew find it amusing that you gamble with their lives? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

dunno, they got killed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
