ship/sailing ?'s

paulsbro

Landlubber
Guys - well we're off to questing + practicing ship battles.
Doing the Greenford-Green Rock quest now.

Thinking of adding a second ship ?
But, the manual has me confused on how to "use/access" that ship and the options as stated in the manual.

Questions:
1) What is the best gun to add to my Battleship ?
Do I go LBS or range ?

2) What is the range in the "cone" for Cannon Balls; Bombs; Chain Shot and Grape Shot.
I couldn't see the proctectiles = so I couldn't tell if I was shooting from too far away.
If I broke the cone into 1/3 or 1/4 segments etc..., would that give me a idea of when to use what type of shot?

3) Adding another ship.
I will have to go big; again.
I can't key + watch the screen = I take lots of hits

The manual says "select" a ship and the icon lights up ... how do I select a ship ... I did the "Oxbay escort" and could never select ? ... I wanted to use the sail to option OR run away etc...
Any help on "how/what keys" are needed to use those options(... in the manual under sailing/ world map) would help !!!
Not sure how far into the game one Battleship will take me = my sailing/fighting stinks
I have no control once we sail on the world map = my disability/manual dexterity + those fast little ships have me running into EVERYTHING :)
Luckily, as of now, I can say no to engage + running into islands causes no damage ... I'm playing "bumper cars" on the high seas
In real fights, I do ok = but I gave myself a Battleship, so cheating has me at an advantage = but that won't last long
So, I need to learn how to manage multiple ships.

Pieter - I was kidding on real weapons of war :)
I did find a tailor on Falaise de fleur, but he only sold mens outfits :-(

Thanks guys.

I was also wondering ... I'm not big on these Fed Ex type quests(... run here - come back- do this - come back etc...), can I just bop around; fight; hit all the islands at random and still progress into the main quest ... or do I need to follow up on the quests I've been given in a certain order

To control additional ships within your fleet (you can have 4); you will do the following:

Press "enter"
The menu pops up,
Use command "give order" Looks like a little signal flag, not to be confused with "hoist flag hehe"

The orders are fairly basic, and include... "defend x", "attack x", heave to drift (drop sale and drift while firing into anything hostile in the gun arcs), sail away -> calculate a good angle to run off and or get out of firing range.

Enter also includes some of the other functions (depending on what mod you are using). Some caviots to that are...

You have to have the grapling hook icon displayed in the top left to board a nearby ship (this is based on your/crew skill, and the defenders skill in boarding which is used as a counter board... which gives the range and angle you can be at (over ride with Lightning Boarding). A very usefull late game skill.

Sail away, you must have the map icon.

Sail -> to, depends on the encounter; but generally you must be faster or have a higher sailing skill then your target. Bad habit of putting you in a defensive poster though.

As far as guns go, I happen to prefer Long guns in the mid to late game... although cannonade can be effective on smaller ships like single deck brigs and sloops/scooners. Once you have obsene gunnery and accuracy youll want to keep most enemies as far away from your ship as possible (especially if your in a battleship/lineship/penace/mow) exc. I also use real sailing, which can be very handy if your patient and use the weather guage to dictate the engagement. Arcade sailing... is just that... very very arcadie... expect to have little ships dance around you ALOT.

Taking on other ships within your fleet require 2 things which I'll cover briefly (as it has been my experience)

1) money... hehe without it they will be a drain on you... this sorta falls into catagory two as well... purpose; youll of course want the bigest ship for yourself (or combat ship), and or a trade ship that hauls goods but dosnt fight so hot.

2) A solid npc to put in command of it... it dosnt make much sense to put a gunner as the commander of your second or more ships... as his leadership will cause crew moral to plumit; he wont sail worth crap, and damage he takes wont be repaired.

I would keep someone around to take ships as prize, such as a high leadership and decent sailing; all the other skills you can let go to pot, as he/she will never be in your physical party...

Learning how to use multiple ships is really not the skill that needs focusing on, learning how to manage the "purpose" of what you want to use the ships for is. For the most part... companion ships are sorta a waste, or good fodder... they tend to fight poorly, cannot board, and make mediocre decisions during the engagement. With this stuff in mind, then actually tend to do best with big warships just for the firepower; with you using a smaller ship to tactically eleminate/board whatever ships are out there.

As far as skills go... I have found through several playthroughs that one of the best builds you can have for yourself is a med to high leadership (influences morale, better hiring chances), very good sailing; rush "sea wolf" perk as quick as possible, then backtrack through the fencing line. Fill in your weaknesses with either a tough or a gunner, even a purser; and feed them fighting skills and max out there gunnery/commerce to make up for your weaknesses in these areas.

ReiFukai - uhhh; ok !
You just about covered everything = I'm printing it out :)

I bought the 32LBS cannons ... tested them ... was using the 24LBS culverines
Not sure which I did better with ?

I have an obscene amount of $ ... played through Oxbay to hone my fighting skills
So, I have a crack crew and plenty of $.

I see your point on the multiple ships.

I tried to find Rheims, but darned if I can find Pirate Island = or whatever the governor called it
I wish I could see one big map with all the landmarks = was sailing around runing into things and not sure if the island(.. if it is one) showed up ... seems sometimes, a land mass will show all landmarks or just Redmond(... as an example)

Will go roaming again tomorrow :)
Not even sure how many islands there are = I spent sea months and found no pirate island/cove etc...

Thanks for your massive newbie tutorial = I'm sure it will save me much frustrstion ... you should have written the manual :)

hehe funny you should mention that, a buddy of mine (whom will remain nameless) has his name credited in IBM manuals post 2001.

The "pirate" island is in fact Quebellos Costillas; in build 13 you will find it S,S,W of Isle Muella. Be sure to raise the jolly rodger before entering the area or any ships in and around it will hostile to you. You may find that if your faction with them is low enough that they will fire on you when you leave.

<i>at any time you can press "TAB" key which will unbound the map camera from your ship and track it to the mouse, so you can see the entire archpelogo. This is a new build feature. (time still passes while your just sitting there though).</i>

I dont consider this a bug, more as I do a "hey, its THATTTT guy" as you are running around there town. This will happen more often then not no matter how high your crew/personal 'luck' skill is (which is used in a stealth calculation). There may also be some code (I havnt rightly looked) that automatically fails the flag check... such as

if p.char flag = pirate; then flag check = fail (this is just an example, not how the code looks)

Reims quest in a nutshell:

*minor spoiler alert*

Silehard gives quest; find the traitor Reihms, goto QC talk with tavern keeper; she refuses to give you any quality information.

An informant will tell you that reihms went to Conceico

Conceico tavern keeper refuses to talk to you

Another informant offers to take you to the pirate fort on conceico

Conceico pirate leader refuses to allow you access to reihms house

goto the tavern, wait until nightfall (sometimes you will have to click off a day then talk to the tavern keeper again to 'stay till sunset'.

Reihms house has a second entrance to the side.

Walk around his house to trigger "found logbook" case.

guards enter (very easy to kill)

leave the pirate fort; you havnt found reihms but you have located his book.

return book to silehard for a reward, this quest ends and you are given another one.

Reihms does turn up later but I wont spoil it for you unless you get stuck again.

One thing before I forget, if you are playing with a modified build, you want to be sure your game is running the 8/28th patch, else the last set of quest run a VERY HIGH probability of breaking, making the main quest unwinable, without using my quest patch. (which in itself is broken'ness but does allow the quest to continue).

Joe; I'm fairly sure that if you hit the "F2" key, and somewheres near the top of that thar menu tew the upper right, there be a menu tab fer the "map" of yer entire caribbean. And like <b>ReiFukai</b> says, while yer sailin around the seas, yew hit yer "TAB" key and it allows you to scroll around the Map/Seas and see whats what, an set yer bearings that way as well. ReiFukai - I'm using Build 12.1
Ok, I'll try the TAB key = beats sailing around/bumping into everything like a fool :)

I wish the ol' Gov would have given me that island name = passed by it several times
I didn't read your spolier; yet ... I like to bop around like a fool = which usually leads me to where I need to go; although in a time consuming, haphazard route :)

Still not sure on the cannon vs culverine OR range of shots ?
Manual says: Chain = average range; Grape = shortest range; Bombs = no range given
I guess I have to get close to use them ?
Sometimes, ships don't even show up on my mini-map ... I hear them fire on me OR I zoom in the map and then see the red wedge = I'll have to work on that(...I use 3rd person view = easier for me to use)

Long John - nice to see you :)
Yep, we're taking our time.
Up to $6,3000,000 ... obscene; isn't it
Found all female officers = 12(.... some overlap) .... took me a week of 6hr nights, but I finished "my quest"
I had to throw 2 back because they wouldn't equip weapons :)
Should have known to check Pieters Page = he has everything ... going there now & will use your link
Oh, and yes: I save all the time = after every good "thing" ... quest/battle/hire officer/buy a good sword etc...

Thanks Guys !
Thought I'd put in a few hours this morning = just sail&sea fighting practice
I'm still not good at keeping the enemy far away = which is why I need those big damage-taking ships

We'll hit that pirate island/quest tonight = I'll need more than 2hrs to stumble my way thru it :)
My method of play is "run around like a fool" ... like run & gun, except for the inept !
I get there; eventually ... just takes lots o' time & doesn't look pretty

As far as the shot goes, with the cannon arc tweaks in 12, most everything other then ball is about useless, chain cant quite get the arc it needs to hit rigging/mast. B13, late patches address this and chain is more effective. Bombs i believe are taken out entirely... as explosive shot really wasnt something found until the mid to late 1700's. Theres some mention of 'heated shot', although I cant say I have ever seen this, and I have had most every ship in the game at one time or another. It may be deactivated for the time being or only available on some store bought warships.

What difficulty do you play/start the game on?

Have you gone to realistic sailing or arcade?

Just curious, as some of these options change how you go about progressing through the game. For game purposes the rule of thumb is like this.

Ball = best range for best damage; damage is hull then crew, then sail
Chain = med to low range; (about 3/4 to 1/2 ball) med damage total; damage to sail high, then crew med, then hull low / null (some instances the shot will just bouce off the hull.
Grape = low damage; anti personnel pittiful range, easily 1/4 range of ball if not less; high damage to crew, med to sail, low to nonexistent to hull.

How its used, or rather, how I use it:

Ball, while I position my ship; usually Long to Med range; spam shots for "effect".

Chain, when I am pushing a bad position or need to get a speed advantage to either extend and escape... or attempt to slow down a vessel I want to board. Fast Loading or Pre-reloading perk helps with this; again... I just wanna spam this stuff while my ship is tilted at the highest arc according to the waves. Sail is somewhat cheaper to fix then hull damage, while hull damage does slow down a ship; it reduces its value significantly.

Grape, good for when your ship is vastly more manuverable then your opponent, and you want to drop his crew down significantly in a series of 'rakes'. Its range hurts its use alot; if your on a high dif level, you may be 'boarded' when your so close trying to reduce there crew levels. This is definately what you want to use when your pillaging the spanish main as it were. Sail and Hull stay in pretty good shape, crew takes a beating... if you can get the crew advantage theres a good chance once you do board there wont be a fight.

Real world use and practice.

When talking about ballistic weapons, generally theres one of two schools of thought; first is the cannon or barrel length, with a smaller projectile. A small projectile in a long barrel gives good muzzle velocity or projectile speed. In the case of the M16 rifle for example. Good accuracy maintained at a long range, projectile weight is rather limited so the energy transfer isnt that great.

School of thought number 2, large powder load; large projectile... short to stubby barrel mediocre muzzle velocity (as the gas expansion not the explosion) propells the round; shorter barrels tend to produce low velocity shot; means lower range, poor accuracy but a much heavier hit in the form of mass and energy. In the case of the AK47.

So all in all, what your really in the market for is either "range" or "meat fist" damage. I havnt taken much time to look through the code for the cannons/shot; in a perfect world, using the LR guns in short ranges would all but negate the armor of a ship; but not do a significant amount of total damage as the shot simply passes through the target. Where as, the ham fisted cannons with there much larger calibre' would have a tendency to want to sprawl or bounce off the hull; but heavily fragment with shot that penetrates causing catastrophic damage to both the hull and crew.

Back to the game:

If you find yourself doing alot of "broadside" style fighting, you want the biggest guns with the shortest range possible; to get the most out of the criticals; One or two good full on broadsides at a stones through worth of distance between ships does significant amounts of damage. (if you just want to sink ships, this is also the way to go)

If you find yourself doing more "running away", or dancing alot, the extra range from the LR's can keep you firing, and them outranged consistently, the fights will be longer, and your going to burn alot more ammo/shot per hit... but if you have a good gunner, or are one yourself, it can be very effective. As your opponent will constantly have to 'chase' you to get off a shot; while you leasurly run off peppering him. Even if he turns and runs, you will be able to keep firing with him outside of range unable to return fire; by the time he gets into range, you'll have established a propper 'off set' to stay outside his cone of fire while you prep to board.

If the combat engine was more 'evolved' then what it is, there could be some interesting fleet loadouts that would allow you to take advantage of both worlds... unfortunately the players fleet has a mind of its own... and will either back waayy off from a fight and just 'artillery' ships, or crawl all over enemy ships exchange close range shot. This is kinda a bummer as age of sail did have some propper fleet formations and whatnot... shame to not see that transfer to potc. Maybe we will see in in AoP?

ReiFukai - you should write a thread "PotC for Dummies".
I'm copying this as well.

I'm playing on the Build 12.1 defaults ? ... guess that means arcade + lowest difficulty
My world map sailing is getting better.

When I played Pirates !(...Sid Meiers), I was abount 70%-Chain; 20%-Grape; 10%-Ball ... I see I will have to rethink my whole sea battle plan in PotC ... I have used little to no Chain(... not even sure if I ever was in range); no Grape; no Bombs = only Balls so far
Problem is, I blow up all the smaller ships = guess they aren't worth keeping ... other ships surrender when I board ... so I just take some armaments
I'm not sure how far into the game one Battleship will take me ... I know the Black Pearl is at the end(.. starting to reveal that quest now) ? ... I'll bet a Fort fight + being outnumbered will show up about mid-game ... I hope me + my crack-crew can handle them = wonder how my burial at sea wil look :)
I will try and fight a Jolly Roger ? ... they seem to move fast on the world map = maybe worth keeping
I'm looking to fight another Battleship or Lineship etc ... see how I do + maybe capture it ... guess I'll look for slow moving ships on the world map ... only the Jolly Roger or French ships have wanted to engage = I've been questing, so I have said no to engage ... fighting around islands as I come off the world map = all the ships have been small
I'm hoping, with "ball", I can slow/cripple them, so I can board ... hard to board a sunken ship :)

I have reduced all other shots to small amounts = in case I want to try them
I'm surprised my ship floats with all the armaments + gold ... have sailcloth/planks for repairs

I did find the QC island ... did the Rheims quest ... spent much time in the brothel = made up for all the times my character said no previously :) ... thumbs up to whomever wrote the dialogue = very funny/pithy/clever = think I looped thru all of them

Also found another tailor ... I see, I have to change "whole characters"; not just clothing
Oh well, looks like the hours to add 12 females was sort of pointless :)
Maybe one "character/tailor" will be that woman in the blue dress = could never add her
I feel like I'm in a Pirate version of Charlie's Angels = maybe I found a name for my ship :)
I did change one officer into that woman who gets mad at me in the bar after her friend gets killed = she knew me ? ... I thought PotC was the original = didn't know there was a former game/pre-quel
Heck I had me + my 3 women and I have no idea how the guards even came close to either of them = we cut them down in seconds
Wonder what I'm doing with all these brooches/necklaces etc ... my character seems to be not interested in romance ... one heck of a pirate :)

Thanks for your help !

Ahh, PoTC; is in fact a sequal to a game called "SeaDogs", and I want to say "Corsairs" in Russia. PoTC came about when SeaDogs 2 was in developement... Disney was getting ready to drop there new movie... Pirates of the Carribean and needed a game... at the time Bethesda was Akella's publisher and they signed a deal to retitle SeaDogs 2 to PoTC. Subsequently it dropped on both PC and Xbox platforms.

In alot of ways fans of the original SeaDogs (myself included) where totally pissed, due to some stuff that was 'supposed' to be in SeaDogs 2... didnt make it. This was due to the release time getting pushed up by several months to make it to release in and around the movie release.

Of course, the game got less then sparkly reviews... support all but was nonexistent... and the promised content for SD2 never manifested itself. Instead we ended up with a pretty solid game engine, but a very poor game mechanic (quest and whatnot where a hodge podge, half arsed tied together to sorta coincide with the movie).

In comes the mod community and through blood sweat and tears... we have build 13 beta... which is getting better every day; as quest bugs and multiple paths are ironed out, and game breaks/quest breaks squashed.

Akella is also know for some other sea-based games like the "Age of Sail" series, SeaDogs (of course), and the Corsair series (which is basically a rebrand/tweak/pre release) of the seadogs game(s).

Age of Pirates, which will be released in the states in and around the 12th through the 18th ish... runs on the Storm 2.5 engine and is realistically... what seadogs 2 should of been before Di$ney put there grubby mouse mits on it. I suspect it will have a pretty substantial mod community as well, as I understand it, it uses alot of the same code format that PoTC uses. This could be a good thing and a bad thing... while the PoTC code is very accessable and easy to get into... it has some pretty serious limitations as far as what one can get away with... that and it is "all in code" so breaking stuff when fixing other stuff happens 'alot'.

With the loot you seem to be acquiring; (i think build 12 had 'autoloot' turned on), so its probably just randomly generated swag off people you are cutting down... it has a tendency to build up. As far as a 'mid-game' theres not really one... if you allready have a battleship or anything in the class 1 series... you should very easily be able to troll through the game with little to no issue as far as competition on the seas. This also explains why you are crushing anything under a class 4 in a volley or two... the shear fire power you are putting on them is incredibly devistating to the smaller ships. If you happen to restart a game and stick to the smaller ships for the early part you'll see what I mean... larger ships will put a heavy beating on you untill you get your def. skill and the def perks going. Of course, you can get around alot of that by just concentrating your skills and officers around manuverability and grapling... ergo you can just board em before they have a chance to give you alot of volleys.

In comparison to real world piracy, this was often the tatic of the day; to use small ships stripped bear, to get speed and manuverability so that they could board there victoms and take ships as intact as possible. It was only the most notorious of the 'famous' pirates that actually put together any kind of 'military' esque fleets, Henry Morgan being the first one to come to mind, although there are numerous others that sacked towns, raided the silver caravans, and plagued the spanish gold and trade ships. Of course piracy was not just limited to the spanish main, the arabic seas also had there fair share of pirates and piracy... as for a little history lesson, a spanish main pirate was considered to be a 'buccanear', while an arabic pirate was considered a 'corsair'.

Once you get ready to restart a game, I would suggest going ahead and getting mod 13 (i believe the next version is just days away which resolve a multitude of issues and add some great content). One of the fixes or tweaks, is indead; chain shot, as the cannon arcs are somewhat higher you can actually take down some rigging if you use the "v" key to force fire. Boarding is also redux' as well, its much more violent and fanatic... so theres lots of 'heated moments' to take a ship. Axes are fun too; a great mod that really finds a home with b13.

Not sure about 12, but in 13 I know some of the gov's daughter code is in, assuming you have a high enough faction with that nation. I wanna say that theres definately some 'room to grow' with B14 that includes some content involoving the daughters... like giving them gifts to win favor... never know.

Some of the things I am personally interested in is expanding some quest beyond the main story once you complete the content of the game... and /or doing an alternate quest line for being a 'pirate'... again, never know how its going to go. AoP may be sooo good, or rather, have some new options in play style that I may focus my attention on it once its available here in the states.

ReiFukai - oh, well I have Sea Dogs too ... haven't played it yet = heard it was the toughest of the 3 pirate games I purchased(...Sid Meiers ! Pirates; PotC and Sea Dogs), so I will try it later.

I have a island/world map ?
I just received the Douwesen quest and am at port looking for those pirates.
So I decided to check and do a full world map scroll = see what islands remain ... seems I'm getting near the end/main quest

I don't know if it matters, but I'll give my game facts/progress:
1) Build 12.1
2) Difficulty = Apprentice
3) Latest quest = Remond Gov' and the pirate/artifacts quest

I don't see many of the islands that are on Pieter's PotC Map.
In fact, all I have left are Ilsa Muelle and Khael Roe (... spelling is probably wrong)
I just went trhu the world map again to make sure I don't ask another bonehead question :)

The following islands aren't on my game/world map ?
* Guadeloupe
* Antigua
* Saint Martin
* Hispanola
* Cayman
* Cuba
* Turk Island
* Tortuga

Just wondering why they aren't on my map = I was hoping to prolong the game :)
Is it due to my game facts/progress listed above ? ... will they/islands show up ? ... is that map tied to another game ?
With only two islands to hit, seems I'm about done.

I will have to figure a way on the next "play" to prolong the game ... if I didn't try and obtain an all female crew or pick fights on the world map, I'm guessing the main quest(...once you talk to the Redmond Gov') would pretty short

I think the 8 missing islands are more than those on the map :)
I was hoping to see what these islands had "to offer" ... hehe

Those islands are turned on by default in build 13...

The pirates your looking for are:

Added in Pre Build 13

ReiFukai/Petros - oh; ok.
That's good to hear = lots more to this play + I have more to look forward to when I add Build 13

Well, thanks again guys.
And thanks to all those who have made this a fun game by donating your time to the "Builds".
Without all of you, this game would have really been a sea "DOG" ... pun intended
Keep adding those funny/pithy/clever lines(... Brothel) ... nice to see some romantic options ... I can't wait to see what you guys come up with :)

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Ahoy thar oe, how is it floatin now for ye? Actually you probably could install the latest and newest updates to your game now, we have gotten rid of a lot of the game killers a the moment. It is starting to look really good. Then you would have to start a new game again, but would give you all the newest stuff....

If you do all the quests and stuff with stock, you may not feel like redoing them again with the build 13. But a new start would be required, so be warned......

Joe, If you havent already installed it, you should really install build pre 13... there are alot of new features...personally i love it.

If you wish to keep playing build 12, go to the downloads section on piratesahoy, there you can download the old map as a picture... I found it very useful when i played build 12... the map in build 13 is very much different... but it rocks :-D

otherwise... have fun with the game mate...

i almost never play the quests... i always end up boarding and looting everything i see instead :p much more fun

ps... Keep adding those funny/pithy/clever lines(... Brothel) ... nice to see some romantic options... I love the fact that youre talking about a brothel as being romantic

Long John - well, blowing stuff and just being a pirate(... going to QC to up my pirate rating etc...) without doing any quest was my next idea = poor you; you think like me :)
I think I need to hoist the pirate flag on the world map to get more action ... hehe

So, you're saying Build pre13 is ready ?
Do I install it over Build 12.1 ?
Do I uninstall 12.1 or 12.1 and PotC... then re-install Potc ?
I don't want to delete pertinent files or leave in some that need to be removed = then go in damage control :)

As for replaying and it not being much fun = I played Sid Meiers Pirates ! thru all eras on 3 difficulties ... and several attempts on rogue = I don't get bored easily :)
With so few games I'm able to play, I beat those to death which I can play = just change my game plan ... like good/bad/kill everything etc...

On brothel/romantic = well, I don't want the board/forum to get into trouble
The board/forum I use for my RPG games ran into some trouble with a "mothers watchdog type group" because of bad language or inuendo by some members = I'm watching what/how I say stuff :)
What would I do without you guys ... still haven't played Sea Dogs(... hope it runs on XP Home/SP2)
You guys are my lifeline = both in terms of sanity and gameplay :)

According to Petros, I'm about 1/2 way thru ... considering all the time it took to get my female crew, I might want to look at them a bit longer :)

But, if pre13 is that good, I will probably start over = I have nothing but time
I have read the boards = seems many are flipping over pre13 ... you guys are "great"
I don't know how you guys do this stuf, but you have my gratitude !

I'd need a comprehensive "install" checklist = so I don't mess it up :)
Remember how much trouble I had getting the game to work = still never figured out what caused my OS/corrupted file problem

Yeah, I'm debating whether to continue with 12.1 or go pre13 ... I'm halfway home and I'd like to see how it ends :)
That's if the Black Pearl and whatever else ahead don't turn me into fish food.

*** But I'm all ears on how to/what install etc.... ***
You haven't steered me wrong yet ... pun intened :)

I've quit adding $ or crew members = might be done within a week ?
I'm just questing now, so the game is progressing quickly.

To be honest I am not sure if build 12.1 was even completable without the main quest characters getting messed up. The B13 Aug 28th patch fixes that though so it is completable, and mother approved although theres some new fixes that havn't been put in any of the official/unofficial releases yet... you may wanna hold out another day or so; as I think B13 is about to go into 13 final.

The only things I think are still hanging out there are a 'national fleet' tweak which limits ship buying to the nation's that you want a ship from, and or you have to have a high enough faction to get the ships as 'buyable'. I also wanna say theres a planned tweak to change what characters are selectable when you start a new game to get rid of some redundency... To be honest, I want 13 to go ahead and finalize... so we can get crackin on some of the B14 goodness.

On another topic... I just wanna say... mother watchdog groups on the internet is about lame... ok I am wrong, is way lame... most of these forum programs specifically state in there EULA that the user has to be of appropriate age to use the site, in the US its a min of 13, because you are collecting information... and theres some laws about all that... if one chooses through there own free will to 'agree' even though they are under age, then they have in essence; violated the EULA, and endemnified the site as a whole... On my sites I would sneak in a little note that basically said 'if you are lying about your age, I consider you trespassing on my property'... case closed. Give little mikey a book, turn off the tv, and stop paying for his internet if you dont wan'em hanging around the likes of meh! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

It was possible to finish the main quest in Build 12.1. I have done it myself and it worked just fine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

ReiFukai/Pieter - ok.
I'lll keep checking this thread = just let me know when Build 13 is ready to go

Then give me the install instructions.
I have 12.1 installed now.
Remember, I'm not tech savvy, so write the install instructions out :)
I'll need a step by step guide.

When my OS was corrupted, I just removed everything; game/build/files/folders = the works
Then did a fresh install.
Tough getting out of my wheelchair, but sometimes it's better to be safe then sorry :)
If I can just download Build 13 and install over 12.1, well, now that would be nice ... Since I'm not sure how to just uninstall Build 12.1 from the game/PotC.

Pieter - noticed your Enable_Brothel post in another thread.
I take it, that's in Build 13 ?
And will be easy to turn on = I want to hear that nice background music :)

Up to Douwessen/Rheims quest.
Seems the last few quests were fed ex/sail arounds = I'm sure bad things will be coming up
Surprised no fleet or fort has attacked me, as I know who the bad guy is(...least I think I know) ... wanted to slice him up long ago,(..if you can) but thought it would be a quest breaker ...hehe

Just let me know when it's safe to get in the water ..."hear Jaws theme"
I'm ready install Build 13 when you guys give me the go ahead + "how to".
You guys really know how to "Build" up the excitement = I'm itching to see all the Build 13 goodies
The more you guys add, the questions I'll have = double edged sword :)

Sorry Rei, but I like Pieter's ship ... Does the Tartan come with harpoon/tomahawk missles :)
Your backend looks to be sinking = too much gold ?
Geez, I have a Battleship and I'm worried ... hehe

Thanks Guys !
