Should a Pirates! Channel be Opened on mIRC?

I was just wondering whether the Pirates! community would care enough for a Pirates! chat channel to be opened in mIRC.
If enough people want it to be opened, I'll spread the word to other fan sites so we can all get together and chat live.
But on the other hand, if not a lot of people care for it, or just don't have the time to join and chat, then I guess there would be no point in opening a Pirates! channel on mIRC.

I'd probably keep it open on my desktop and chime in every now and then. It's a good way for me to keep in touch with all the major fan sites. Let me know if it comes together.

Thanks for the input Jeff. I’ll try to put it together as soon as I can. When I finish, I’ll announce it to the other two fan sites so they know.

If you have mIRC, connect to the IRC server at irc.`irc-chat`.net, and then join the channel #Pirates! (/join #Pirates!).

If you do not have mIRC, go to www.mirc.com and download the free software.

It would be very cool if a chat (or an interview) with someone from the Pirates team could be arranged.

I think we all have many questions about the game.

If that is the case,shouldn't be wise to open a forum with questions that we want to ask to jeff???So you can use the most intelligent questions.
 
We (Addicted to Pirates! and Cutlass Isle) started an `IRC-channel` on irc.stratics.com over 6 months ago <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> #Pirates! - which can be joined both via `irc-clients` (such as mIRC) and via a `java-applet` that is available on both sites.

I don't think we need more than one channel, so if you guys at Pirates Ahoy! want to help us make one big one - you are more than welcome - it's easier for the rest of the community to have only one channel, imho <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

You guys started six months ago, when I joined there was only one person there.

I bet you would have had way more people if you announced it to the whole Pirates! community on time.
So I guess my question is, how do you plan to make your channel more successful?

Honestly, the interest just faded a bit, both from my side and others - since just a few of the same people visited. But, maybe if we get PA! as a `co-owner` of the channel and if they help promote it - it will get a regular user base. I've started promoting it - as you gently reminded me of that we already had a channel lurking in the shadows <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And then I hope to arrange a chat in near future (no devs or anything (well if they want they can come <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" /> ), just a scheduled time where we say: Come on! Meet up! Let's get together!)

Hopefully we'll get `10-20` people online at the same time, and then we have a start...

I hope we can achieve that - most important thing is that people stay in channel and don't just quit once they see that there barely is anyone there (cause if noone stays, it will never be filled up!). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Well, maybe KriFos has some idea up his sleeve, but if I had to tell you about interviews, well, Jeff is in the chat quite often, if I understood KriFos correctly this morning.
