You can only enslave the crew when the captain of the ship surrenders.

He'll usually surrender only if you're outnumbering him by a large margin.

he may also surrender if you cripple his ship, blasting off all the masts, pounding his hull down to near minimal.

because basicly, if you board and fight, its "No Quarter Given" you kill every last man of the enemy

ok
but i shot whit my frigate the ship hull to minemun ask to surender and he says isint that a bit mutch

no unfortunatley, and you never know if the enemy will surrender, some are weak, and will surrender, some are strong and just like it was in reality they will sell their souls dearly.

BTW, is it just me or do slaves use up your food?

I use one Corvette with a 380 men crew. After a pretty good killing spree, I ended up with about 400 slaves in my hold. Then I noticed that 700 units of food barely last for something like 15 days.

doh! of course they do <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

What do you mean "of course"?! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> We should be able to set the amount of food slaves get - of course some will starve... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

If you search the forums i think theres is already a post on food usage I know for atleast the crew, passengers and i think officers and maybe slaves but i'm not sure.As for the surrendering thing, people were talking about that and I was wondering why it never happened to me but finaly happened. It seems its more random than anything as Ive crippled alot of ships and taken the crew down to nothing and they still fought where as i've boarded some ships straight away and even though the ship was the same class or just a bit smaller they surrendered with little or no damage being done to thier hull/sails/crew.So atleast in my case id'e say yes damaging the ships and such helps, but more than anything having a larger ship and alot of luck might be the determining factor.By luck I was talking about you know luck, not the ingame skill but actually I have pumped up the luck skill a bunch and maybe thats why it's been happening more lately.Either way I didnt get a enemy to surrender until about say well atleast a bit after the free captains meeting but we all play at a different pace so it's not an exact timeline but it was a long time as I took my time exploring and fighting.

When I got my Man-o-war, the enemy usually surrenders to me. I think the war fleets need to be beat on first, but others.. usually right away. Of course, my Man-o-war is modded too, so it can turn on a dime and go from 0 to 70 in under 10 seconds. Maybe that scares them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
