Smuggling Yourself to Another Island

I just encountered the Flying Dutchman and I was later marooned on the island of San Martin...the only problem is that im completely hostile with the Dutch. I snuck into the tavern and talked to the smuggler to get me off the island, only problem is...he never shows up at the shore where he said to meet him at. I went and sold some stuff to the store owner, so I have enough money for the trip, but everytime I sneak out of town and go to the shore there's nothing there. I've tried it many times on different days and at different times, and I'm getting kind of tired of trying to get off this island (Been here for over a real day trying to figure this out now). I want to use that teleporter cheat I've heard about, but I dont think I can without starting a new game...any tips?
 
Well i dont know much about the smugling, but i can tell you that you dont have to worry about starting a new game when you enable the debug mode, just check the tut on the site and its going to be ok <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Otherwise i hope someone explains the smuggler case as well <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
Reload until the Dutchman places you on a friendly island.

Oh, and you can keep some stuff on your char when your boat is going down.
I loaded myself with a few cuirass, reloaded the dutchman battle until I was placed on a friendly island, sold the cuirass, bought ship and went went back to pick up my money, ship and officers.
Took about 10 minutes or so to get back on my feet.
 
Well im not much for cheating, so Ill keep trying a legit way...but I saved it after the dutchman fight, so I'm stuck on this hostile island <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Since the smuggling keeps failing I think Ill try to sail out of the harbor with a tartane again. It doesn't go too well though, since I cant hire a crew my top speed is 1.2 or so. I've got a saved game where the wind is favorable and there are no ships in the harbor, but the fort gets a lot of chances to sink me before I can get out of its range...and 1-2 hits and my little fishing boat is at the bottom. Ahh well, makes for an interesting story if I survive hehe.
 
Well, if you absolutely had to, you could enable God Mode to get beyond the fort's range, then disable it. You'd still have a heck of a time avoiding getting your sails blown off and your crew decimated, since God Mode only ensures hull integrity.
 
I actually managed to survive in my Tartane with about 10% hull integrity left (that was from one shot)...and I had a complete PotC moment as I stepped off the top of my mast onto the dock of Port Royale :p

Nice, well done on your escape, you was very lucky. I bet Port Royal didn't look so nice as it did this time when you sailed into port?
