I used to play regular POTC to death, then I picked up build 12.1, and played that like crazy.

I loved all the features, but it felt like something was missing, I dont know how to explain it, but I always wanted from a pirate game, true exploration, like finding a treasure map then finding where the treasure is, some really deep and exciting quests with danger and intrigue, like the raquol rheims quest/ artieous vious (spelling, I know). when I played the roquol rhiems quest (i think thats what it was called, the one from QC) I was so amazed, i know it was scripted, but like the crew mutanied or whatever, and he stole a ship, and we ended up having to fight each other, I thought that was sooo awesome. also the mefisto quest.

anyways, sorry to go off topic, in build 13, are there anymore quests like that in build 13? or maybe random funtions that give to mutanying crewmembers and junk?

compared to age of pirates, I only have the russian version, and the patches and mods dont work for for that version.

gah i guess im just kind of rambling now, so to sum up everything, what is better, AOP with all the mods and junk, or POTC with build 13? what has better quests? does AOP still have no quests? does POTC have new quests? what features does one have that the other doesnt?

sorry i know all this is asked all the time. thanks in advance!

you CAN go looking for treasure in build 13 update2. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Build 13 contains treasure quests, among with many other gameplay-improving modifications, new ships, new characters, etc. We are also working on the Build 14 Alpha version now, which contains two new quests and a whole bunch of gameplay improvements as well. I personally think that Pirates of the Caribbean with Build 13 is the best pirate game out there and if we manage to put some of the new mods of the Build 14 Alpha version into a stable Build 13 update, it'll be even better still. I have never played Age of Pirates, so I can't really say which is better, but what I heard from AoP doesn't really make me want to try it.

BTW: Maximus has made some new mutiny code for the Build 14 Alpha version. I haven't got that code yet, but as soon as I have it, I'll release a new Alpha modpack update including it.

also: nine new islands have been added. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> you can also choose your ship, character and starting location.

what does that new mutiny code do?

I dunno. We'll find out when I got the files for it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

ok so i have got build 13 installed and all that without any updates...... what is in the build 13 updates that isnt in the regular build 13 (like treasure quests and building ur own settlements, stuff like that) that is worth installing it and redoing all the changed i made to the game files and how far i got in the game?

aye, i learned the hard way that you should wait before starting a new game. because of all those updates and new builds i only managed to finish the game once! i'm getting pretty sick of it by now. guess there's no alternative than starting a new game, or play on with a few more bugs. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> i think that some features where added in the update as well, but pieter can tell you more about that.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Mates,

I agree with Pieter that POTC + Build13 is the best Pirates Simulator really better than AOP.
But AOP even if has many bugs isn't a bad game, and there are some stuff that still are not in POTC+Build13, like better random mission and colony conquest and manage.

However, for now I leave AOP and I'm return to POTC. I'll wait for see AOP improved by mod.

I think that POTC + builds and updates, is a ton better then AOP.

I like the colony size, random missions, colony management, and the natins activity (differant wars and alliances) that AoP offers but everytime I play AOP, I feel like I am playing an unfinshed game. You cant enter or explore houses, jungles, mines, etc, in AOP. The officer AI is terriblle, and the interface seems too dumbed down for the masses.

As far as quests and replayability go: POTC wins there too with much more dynamic quests and differant starting conditions and nations to choose from.

<b>Main thing I like about AOP</b>: I liked being able to take over other colonies, either for yourself or for a Govenor.

<b>Main thing I like about POTC + Builds + Updates</b>: I like being able to have a personal share of the pirate booty I get, that affects my reputation and standing.

Thanks for the info warning about this. Thats just made sure I will never buy AOP. Buyers please BEWARE of playing any game that uses STARFARCE. It just makes me so angry!
