So you think you're rich?

Oh by the way, all of you who have millions of game coin and think you're rich, consider this. The game calls its currency Piaster which was a coin of the Ottoman empire worth roughly the equivalent of an English penny. More info here:Piastre. There was a Spanish version of this coin, however by the early 17th century it was commonly called the Peso or Pesota to distinguish it from its lesser valued Ottoman cousin.
By this time it had been replaced on the world market by the Guinea, used to pay Britains military and for foreign trade. As the first machine struck gold coin the Guinea began circulation in 1663 intended to be a more durable version of the paper Pound.
Also the Guinea was made of gold whereas the Piaster was not.
More detail, including photos can be found here: Guinea coin

Considering the amount of things you can buy with millions of Piasters, if that is the plural, I wouldn't think that was a problem.

It seems to me that the terms used for "piece of gold" in the game is not really consistent. Sometimes it's "piastre", but I've also seen references to dubloons and perhaps there are even mentions of pennies in there. Seems things are a bit messed up in that respect. Basically it all just means "piece of gold".
