" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I just dug PotC out of storage and decided to see how it worked since I upgraded ye olde computer. I've got build 11 for it (and plan to get 12 as soon as I can get to a computer lab where I can use my flash drive).
To get sound effects working I had to un-mute a feature on my new (cheap) SBlive card. That fixed, I can't seem to hear the introductory song *once the build is installed*. This would be that pleasant steel drum tune on the same save/load screen where the logo has been replaced with Sea Dogs. Nor can I hear the 'mate's call for hoisting and furling sails. The latter happened at least once, but I haven't gotten the chance to test it again today.
So... Where in the scripts can I look to troubleshoot this vis a vis oopsies or flaws on my own system? Also, are any sound issues something known and dealt with in build 12?
I'll go back to troubleshooting on my own. Till then...

ps- all sound and music play correctly in the unpatched retail version of PotC. Also, I've verified that all the sound files are in their correct places after the patch. They play just fine in Winamp.
pps- I don't recall any issues with build 10 or 11 before but, again, that was with older equipment. I've since upgraded HD, processor, MB, ram, sound card, and case. It's now an Athlon64 3.0 7xx pin chip on an MSI board. Except for some odd tomfoolery from the SBlive like that I encountered, I wouldn't think any of the upgrades would be related.
