Spaniards Dont Like Me

davfra

Landlubber
Hi, I`m new to this game and would appreciate some advice I`ve finally managed the dancing bit and now I`ve been asked to rescue the Governors daughter from Vera Cruz. Trouble is I`ve been hitting the Spaniards all through the game and they won`t let me near Vera Cruz. The sneak into town bit is something I just can`t get to grips with.
So how do I rescue the girl if I cant get into town?
Cheers,
David

Possibly if ye visit de spanish Jesuit settlements he may offer ye amnesty if ye go wid em to see the Governur, fer a price O' Course <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

davfra, Mendoza sails around a lot and I have yet to find him inside a city, only on his ship. Checking in taverns with the tavernkeep can provide you with clues as to where he is at some point or where he is going. A settlement near Vera Cruz or a pirate haven near it can probably provide you with information on his whereabouts. I have only found one of the villains in a city and that was the Baron when I was in a tavern and bought information from the traveler. He just happened to be where I was and contacting the tavernkeep enabled me to fight him in the tavern instead of at sea. Check the area from Vera Cruz to Havana and you should get clues to his whereabouts.

uh he eventually will set sail so if you camp outside vera cruz and help yourself to some galleons you'll definitely see mendoza (provided he isnt already on his way somewhere since the rumors arent always up to date), very rarely do you actually catch them in port even if the rumors say they are.

anyway the spanish are good ones to p o, since they are always at war with everyone else, and they have the most ships for you to plunder.

Sack Vera Cruz. Seriously. Then ask in the tavern.

Works like a charm.

Worse case scenario? You've raided a town and ransomed it for a few gold and there isn't any news. Darn.

Also, sneaking isn't that hard. The governor's mansion is directly "north" of where you start and the tavern is to the "north east" of that (at least it is in all the games I have played).
