Especially when bug fixes are based on the Alpha versions, because the modders use their own game versions. Also some bugfixes are the results of complete code rewrites and new features that in many cases introduce as many bugs as they fix. Therefore in many cases it is not feasable to put those fixes into Build 13. Also considering that in many cases we don't know exactly HOW a certain bug got fixed at all; it might just be a side-effect of a different mod. Also personally I have a great problem with uploading huge files, so I don't want to make a new Build 13 full download for every small fix. However, we have started the Sparrow Search project which will hopefully result in an improved Build 13.5 release in the future.
 
Regarding buying ammo from the stores and market stands, I do it all the time in 13 Full. Seems to work just fine. I also use the weapon degradation feature, and that seems to be working fine as well. Having to make frequent use of the smithy seems to help drain some excess gold out of the game. I am still experiencing the partial keyboard lock occasionally, as mentioned before. No error logs created for it, and no particular pattern I have observed causing it. I also identified the dissapearing cargo issue. This happens when you buy a full cargo load in the store. Sometimes when you click to confirm your purchase, the money transfers out, but the cargo does not get transferred in. Doesn't ever seem to happen with a partial load.
 
maybe the way you installed build 13 makes a difference. what i'm doing now is installing pre build 13 base on top of build 12.1, which it was designed for, and adding update 3 to that. maybe it makes a difference.
 
Make sure you install Build 13 Update 3 FULL if you do that! In theory all installation orders should yield the same end results, but perhaps due to some mistakes somewhere there could be some slight differences. It still baffles me how many issues that I cannot confirm people have been experiencing with the same game version. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

well, i've got a list of bugs already. some foes don't have a sword. changing your ships sails and saving before you go to a different location results in a freeze in the saving menu, same thing happens when you change your outfit. and my loading screens for loading the game, loading a game and starting a new game are the stock ones, except for the fact that they're in russian.
 
WTF? What have you been doing to your game??? Did you run the Batch files at the appropriate times? Sounds like something went wrong. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
yes, i did. the freeze in the saving menu still occurs in b14 a6, by the way. i think the bug with the missing swords is simply not yet fixed in this version, but it is in build 13 final. i'll need a patch for that.
 
You installed Build 13 Update 3 Full. Therefore you're running Build 13 Final if you installed correctly.
 
maybe, but i've seen a whole lot more wierd things. build 13 final has problems that build 13 update 3 didn't have, for example.
 
Which makes no sense AT ALL, because the files are identical. I checked.
 
well, i've also had different bugs each time i re-installed the game. it's like reshuffling the problems every time.

I cannot confirm this one - I have never seen it, in any of the versions I've played, going back over a 1 year+ period. And I get into quite a few skirmishes, both land and sea.

Confirmed for changing your player skin(s) or any officer skin. You have to reload to another location to save correctly. If you try to save in the same location as you changed the character skin, you get "stuck" and have to use the F1 key to return to the game. This is the case for ALL versions of the Build MOD that I have tried.

I don't ever change sails, so I cannot confirm that.

Sounds like you might have install problems, since you are getting Russian menus and strange load screens. Also, make sure that your file size is correct for the build13_full.exe file (386,248,170 bytes). I had one instance (with one of the build files) that a download didn't complete, and I didn't have all the files. It was one of the EXE versions, and it appeared to install, but was incomplete. Caused lots of trouble in that iteration for me.

For this version (Build 13 FULL), here is my install order:

1. Clean install of POTC.
2. Install Build 13 FULL, run appropriate BAT files.

Have you started from a clean install of POTC? That means uninstalling the stock POTC and deleting ALL the remaining files in that folder.

pre build 13 is supposed to be 296MB. it says so clearly on pieter's site, and it WAS that size.

the bug with missing swords was in the original build 13, without updates. it was confirmed by other people, which i am absolutely certain of. it's supposedly fixed in the update, which it apparantly isn't.

my menus and other loading screens are normal. it's just the screens for loading a game, loading the game, and starting a new game that are in russian, as i said before.

the one thing i can think of that might have caused this is that i ran RunMe.bat after i installed pre build 13, AND after i installed build 13 update 3 full on top of it. of course, i installed pre build 13 on top of build 12.1, like you are supposed to do.

i've got another bug to add to the list, although it's not version specific. i noticed that while using directsail, the lookout mostly gives a random direction as to where things are. for example: it said something was in the water, dead ahead, in the south, while i was going east! it was in fact in front of me, but i think that dude needs a compass.

note: i MIGHT have forgotten something, although it's highly unlikely, because i checked. there where quite a few screenshots in the PotC, so i didn't remove the folder itself. maybe something slipped through. that would explain why silehard's manowar was black, like in the modded game, while i HADN'T installed any mods! that skin didn't even excist yet at that time! right? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Hmmmmmm...

A couple of things stand out.

The DirectSail mod is NOT in any of the Build 13 mod files (Build 13 FULL, Build 13 Update 3 or Build 13 FINAL), unless it was manually added. So, there is something strange with your install. And the "Russian loading screens" confirm this.

I don't know that you have to install Build 12.1 and pre Build 13 in order to get build13_full.exe to work. I didn't and my game seems pretty stable so far. Per my post above, I did a clean stock POTC install and then added build13_full.exe.

FYI - we are currently testing Build 13 FULL (Build 13.0.1.2), not Build 13 Update 3 (AKA Build 13 FINAL). We will be moving to the Update 3 version in the next week or so. Your menu screen should look like this:

I think that Build 13 Update 3 was designed to be installed on top of Build 13 FULL. However, I think there are 2 versions of that Update 3 file floating around which are different sizes, so I'm not certain. Can someone verify this?

Can you post some screens of the "missing swords" or provide more details on where and when it happens? And what are your settings for AMMOMOD and WEAPONSMOD? Are there any threads with more details? I did a quick search and couldn't find any posts about this one.

There is Build 13 Update 3 and Build 13 Update 3 Full. Update 3 is to be installed on top of Build 13 Full and Update 3 Full can be installed on top of Pre Build 13 and gives the same results.

arr, you beat me to it. anyway, my game should technically be exactly the same. as i said twice before, and i say again, the only russian loading screens are the screens for loading a game, loading the game itself, and starting a new game. and loading the 'after boarding' screen, as i just found out. that's all. i don't know why you're still thinking that all my screens are in russian, but they're not.

the main menu doesn't have to look like that. it's different when you choose the new interfaces. anyway, it looks like that with the old interfaces turned on, like it should. the menu is the same in update 3, by the way. maybe the indicated build version is different though.

i'd recommend you'd look at pieter's site in the build 13 downloads. that might clarify a few things.

the directsail mod can be downloaded from the FTP and installed directly on build 13, no matter what version. no new game required. for the first time with my game, it seems to be working properly, disregaring the bugs that where always there, a.k.a. the misdirections.

there's not much to clarify about the missing swords. they simply don't have a sword, so they just stand there, trying to gaze me to death. as they don't have 'your trusty fists' with them, they don't use their fists either. i'm absolutely sure this bug was there in the past. the strange thing is that it was supposedly fixed in update 3.

all my settings are the original ones. i didn't change anything yet.

one thing that's really annoying me though is that the jib of the bermuda sloop is at a wrong angle to the wind. it's just not logical any way you look at it. the wind is simply blowing on the end of the boom instead of into the sail. doesn't seem very useful to me.

before i forget:
the degrading of your blade over time works. i haven't, thank heavens, have it break yet, but i know it can. because i once shattered an enemy's blade by blocking. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> after that, he just chose to gaze in awe and do nothing.

Yes, there are people looking at the bug reports. Currently, I think the plan is to allow people to post bugs and we'll see if we can spot trends and/or try to replicate those bugs. I have actually tried to replicate most of the bugs, but I haven't been successful yet.

I can confirm that this has happened to me before, although not yet in this bug search project. It seemed to happen when I battled/captured numerous ships (a convoy of 3-4 or more ships) and then dumped/abandoned one of the previously captured ships and took on one of the new ships. This involved shifting cargo and swapping ships several times and having the full complement of 4 ships. When I went to the worldmap after all the action, the CTD occurred just as you report.

Oh, and one question... Were you doing a trade mission (from one of the store merchants) at the time of this happening? I seem to recall that it did happen more often in this scenario, although it did also happen when I was just "pirating".
