Speed error

Landlubber
I have a problem with the game I can't seem to fix :s All of the characters and especially my own run at triple speed like the game is speeded up <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> This way I can not do efficient combat and such. Can anyone fix this problem or know how to fix it?

thx

It seems that two possibilities exist:
1. You're runing Pirates of the Caribbean on a supercomputer. The only thing I can advice is to use a PC.
2. You're runing Pirates! or Pirates! Gold. Use some slowdown program, or start it under DOSBox which will allow you to set processor cycles.

To the 2nd point: you're on wrong forum.

What is the game's name exactly? I won't believe PotC is running too fast even on most modern computers...

Pirates of the Caribbean + mod build 14 alpha 6 (but it doesn't seem to run smooth in normal, nor with other mods)

Maybe you was experimenting with a 'G' key? That will increase game speed 10x or even 30x if it was pressed twice.

Morgan's suggestion is a pretty good one. Perhaps the control for speeding up time got joined with another control (say, moving forward). Reset the controls to default in the options menu, then start a new game and see if it's better.

Hi,
I have exprienced this problem some time ago on my old computer but don't actualy know was caused it or how I solved it .. but , have you got your graphics & sound drivers up to date ?

I remember, for me, it would be OK again if I restarted the game.....as if it had been cought in some sort of loop or something. Graphics & sound cards cause some pretty stange things sometimes. Memory ...not enough, can screw things up as well .

none of my system specs meet the requirements except the RAM, so outdated components are pretty much ruled out.

Different components can make for different issues though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Hi,
You do need a good sound card for gaming,... i.e. Battlground Europe wouldn't even start for me when I got that, but when I put a new sound card in, the game worked perfect. Plus all my other games worked a lot better too.
And the more memmory....the better.

Try resetting the controls to default. I ran Pirates of the Caribbean with mod build 14 alpha 6 on a spare crappy computer & haven't experienced anything like that.

I'll try that and see what happens <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
