Start up trouble

Install the stock game first, then check if it works.
If the stock game works, it is neither a Windows nor a GFX card issue.
Then install Build 13 Final; since the stock game worked, Build 13 should work too, if installed correctly.

Installing from cd, and have before, did work then. But now the stock game won't even work correctly when installed. No mods installed yet or anything.

Have you recently made any changes to Operating system, hardware or major software packages (Antivirus, firewall, new major programs)?

If so, ANY of those changes or even and interaction between one or more could be the culprit.

Just as suggestions mind you, none of this is guaranteed to be correct.

Yes. The game was never installed on this computer, just on my previous one. So hardware did change :p The rest is about the same.

then it's obviously the different hardware. that's always the most likely problem.

You wouldn't happen to have the specs handy on your current and previous computers, would you? Maybe somebody on here could figure out what's causing the problem.

i have a problem too... potc and build mod worked before, now i have bought a geforce9600gt and the game doesnt work anymore, when i click potc shortcut i get a black screen.. does anyone know what to do?

Hathi - Likely there is some piece of hardware that either isn't supported or the game doesn't like.

Mediteran - Make sure you reset your game options using the setup util. Also let the dxsetup program re-run. As there might be differences between the old card and new that haven't been recognized by either the game or the OS.

The specs, sorry it took a while, stuff came up :p

AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+
3,5 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE

Think this is everything that could conflict, if there's more, I'll look up those parts :p

*edit* noticing I'm not the only one with this graphics card with trouble.

It could be that you've got a dual-core computer - there's apparently lots of games that won't run on anything with more than one CPU. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
