Stuck on English mission 2

I went to Curacao, couldn't find anyone in the Tavern who would speak to me 'Gutter trash' so I kept asking everyone in town. Somebody wanted info for money and I paid him. My log said to board a brig. But there is no
'Board' or grappling option on the screen? so I went over by rowboat and the captain said what are you doing here, we are in battle now?

I thought maybe because we both have Dutch flags, but going to the nation screen won't allow me to change nations at this time?

I got it to work!

I had to;

1.) pull up beside the brig for boarding.
2.) TAB down to deck mode,
3.) go over to the side of the ship(throw up because I get sea sick). Look at brig and press left mouse button( hopefully you've loaded cannons with grape shot before hand)
4.) And then the voice comes over 'board em all'!!!
