Wow that is magnificent!

Indeed it is! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />, Duke!
And especially nice in an area the game lacks, large galleon-style ships--the MOW has a 17th century _rig_ but a 18-19th hull SFAICT. There's a real lack of galleons (as Sailor Al has opined); this should be music to his ears (or eyes, I guess).

I would like to see Solei Royal and Sovereign of the Seas the best of all here. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

HMS Sovereign of the Seas 1637, the most famoust British ship of 17th century. The 3 deck, 102 guns galleon.

A great one, Rad. <i>That´s</i> what the Man O War should look like <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Hi, Grim. I think the term Man of War (Manovar) is from a little later times. Manovars were rather ships as Victory was and I think this term started to use in 18th century. I think the MOWs in the game are good. These two above placed ships here are galleons from 17th century. They were named war ships and they were the the royal flag ships. Spaniards has their great ships too which were equal those two ones. It was for example galleon San Felipe. French has their galleons Solei Royal and La Courone. And just from those huge 3 deck and about 100 guns hips were later in 18th century developed 3 deck first class war ships which were named Manowars. Wasa is the same category ship as Sovereign of the Seas or Solei Royal or San Felipe. But I don´t like this Wasa too much because she hasn´t any war famous as she sunk after her launching on the water. On the other hand the ship Sovereign of the Seas was very famous historical ship which won in many battles. She sailed namy decades on the high seas but in the end she burned from some bad coincidence. Those huge great galleons ( I think those ships were just the greatest ships ever what about decoration concerns) were developed from the older, more typical galleons of 16th century.

Spanish San Felipe 1690
<img src="http://www.thelib.com/homepage/gallery/users/Rad/Working/San%20Felipe%201690.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

On this picture can be seen how the booths were lowered in the course of time when you compare Sovereign of the Seas 1637 and this San Felipe 1690. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

That's it Rad <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> , the galleon model i have that i posted ago is the San Felipe!!! I still have the model but I think it will never be in the water <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Those models are great. If I had a place at home and enough money I would buy such a ship, probably Sovereign of the Seas, but she costs about 2500 dollars in the highest quality and in the largest scale. They are selling and sending them compounded, not as a kit. But for Americans it isn´t such enormous money, but for us, people from central Europe it is very much. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I think the term Man of War (Manovar) is from a little later times. Manovars were rather ships as Victory was and I think this term started to use in 18th century<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Actually, the term "Man of War" was used to refer to any kind of ship used by the military , so even a sloop would be named a Man of War, if used by a navy, it´s not one particular class of ships. At least, that´s how Exquemeling uses the term <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> , a ship like the "Victory" (which is a mid-18th century ship anyways) would be called a Ship of the Line, a term generated after 1653, when Robert Blake redefined the naval tactics in his "Sailing instructions" and "Fighting instructions".

You are right, MOW wasn´t particular class of ship and I know the Victoty was built as a war ship and she was simultaneously flag ship and line ship and MOW ship too because those ships fought in lines which was a naval tactic of fighting from the half of the 17th century. But it is interesting the name MOW was more frequently connected with large war ships than with lesser ships but yes, even sloop could be named MOW. And because of this convolutedness, and a haziness and undefinitedness all the issue is even more interesting. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I know that. Suraknar is a member of PMT group that are working on their own complex Add-On for PoTC. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
