Landlubber
Did anyone know what good this ship do other than kill your self in storm?
It's has only 100 hull point, 50 cargo, 7 knot max, no cannon gun, cost 5,000 if you buy those ship.

You can use this boat when you have not ship and not enought money.
In build 12 you use it when your boat sink.

I'd be use'n de Tartane fer firewood fer me weenie roasts <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

You can trade it in for Skeleton Bob's Gunboat! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" />

Or, if you want a real challenge, you can try to take a ManO' War with one. I think Skull managed to do that once or twice. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Aye Sir Chris, that I did, best swordplay challenge in de whole game, seemed te go on forever fer me small crew an meselfe, captured de MOW in de end, nuth'n left O' me crew and surrounded many times an fight'n many deck levels, kicked their sorry arses in de end <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> loads O' fun mates <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Hee hee, yes it's fun to take a larger ship with that little boat that has no guns! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

To honor this accomplishment, you ought to rename yourself to Pierre le Grand, Skull <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Hi Cat,I was use'n Skelly Bob's gunboat at de time, not that de bow cannon an 4 swivels did me any good against MOW,sure is a lot O' fun.

V. Grimm ye should take a crack at it mate <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Skull is right, Grimm, you should try it! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Because you can be fast in a small boat like the Tartane or the Gunboat, you can time it to sail inbetween the cannonfire and get within grappling range before they get you - then you'll have a LONG battle with seemingly endless decks - but eventually you'll make it - and it sure is satisfying to sail off in a MUCH bigger ship... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Aye Cat,jest keep yer bow to MOW stern at a angle wid de wind in yer favor,an watch her stern shots,de water spouts from her cannon fire look te be 10' tall cause ye sit low in de water, its incredible,I'd be circl'n aroun' to her stern again jest te watch that <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> If you haven't a good cannoneer early on, you may as well use tartans to sieze small merchants like luggers and barques. The tartane only costs 2000, less than repairing a larger ship would cost, so you never need to feel "bad" about abandoning one to sieze a larger prize. Repeat this process of trading tartans for small, loaded merchants a few times, and you'll soon find yourself sitting on a comfy pile of money!

I´ll really have to try it. With me, ships always surrender so easily, although I have already set the chance for surrender to 0.5 in the buildsettings, and I´m just using a corvette (currently playing on Journeyman level). Sometimes I wish ships would rise a white flag during sea battle, they fight on and on, no matter how hard I shoot them, but as soon as I board, they surrender. Why can´t they do that earlier, and spare me all that maneuvering?

Hee hee, maybe it's not the cannonfire that will make them surrender, but the sight of you and your ferocious crew climbing over the sides of their ship! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Aye Grimm,at'a bit O' problem when yer that good <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Bump up your game difficulty level to Adventurer - that may make a difference as to whether you get a fight instead of a surrender. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Or perhaps I should shorten my sea battles, and go directly for boarding instead of showering them with grapeshot first. I also realized that ships lose moral if the battle takes a long time, I think moral drops every time the cannons are fired or something like that.

Not sure about crew Moral, usualy jest peper their sails wid chainshot te slow em down some, than board em,like te leave thar crew intact so ye get a better fight on decks <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Another thing, don't ever acquire that "Musket Volley" ability.

If they had any fight left in them before boarding, that might just finish them off. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

That's a good tip, Petros! I never take that musket volley ability so I DO have a good fight. And I chase 'em until I'm close enough to board, RARELY do I use chain unless they're fast than I (RARELY), and I hardly ever use grape (usually I sell all my grape and most of the chain and all of the bombs at the beginning of the game and just go with ball)...

Swashbuckler is HARD unless you use grape, tho... But it's also difficult to get in close to shoot grape without initiating a boarding. I never take "Instant Boarding" to counteract that, but if they have more men than you and you come close, they will automatically board YOU (unless their morale is in the scuppers). Some of those ships I board have almost no food, no WONDER they want to surrender! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Keep your crew happy with double rum rations, and they'll fight like tigers... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
