The Future for Build 14...

Currently I'll vote for 'fair wind'. But I most agree with pirate_kk point of view. I think we should concentrate on finishing our current Build 14, and begining to think on what could be Build 15. This one could be 'Spanish Main' : we could work on the ideas that were posted in this threat <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=11006&st=20&start=20" target="_blank">http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php...20&start=20</a>. Then we could maybe work on the Napoleonic area, as a lot has been done already. What do you say? Some of the main goals would be to add the dynamic officers system we have been dreaming for a while, and a more dynamic economical system for Colonies and sea traffic - like Mithridates VI wrote here <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=11010" target="_blank">http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=11010</a>.
Of course this might be a little too ambitious...
The main idea is : if we want to call a Build version 'Spanish Main', we first have to make so that it deserve that name.

Finishing Build 14 already? I can't see it being finished within a couple of months. I think the finishing process for Build 13 along took at least half a year. In any case: We should come up with a name for Build 14 here. A name it deserves and a name that suggests a bit of the things that we have done. Perhaps Build 15 could get a different name. It wouldn't surprise me that much if Build 14 were to be the last modpack version. We can't keep modding forever, unfortunately. And especially I can't, because at some point I will be done with school and real life work will become much more important. But I at least want to have a good Build 14 finished before that time.

I think that B14 should be the last Build, then we can edit minor things to make versions of B14 that set the game in different time periods to fit all different tastes. Basically each version would be the same as the other, just a different set of ships and characters to look like the days of Elizabeth, George III, or Napoleon.

A movie script in these forums for a fantasized sequel to the Pirates of the Caribbean series (Disney) is called PotC:Under the Black Flag. Afterall, this Build is about pirates. I like it.

If my vote count anywhere, I agree with a simple virtual sailor. All the work you guys have done towards a more dynamic sailing game, should be used/recycled in other contexts. I was always impressed, how much the gameplay have improved in this Build from the original, not because of the quests, the new ships or the new islands, no its the sailing and the influence that gets me playing once again.

But it is still sad, the team are gonna have to let Pieter go when he finishes his education :/

the one thing i'd really like to see would be the directsail mod in build 13. that way that great mod can be in a mod version that's reasonably stable.

CouchcaptainCharles had a Build 13 compatible version of DirectSail. Perhaps he still has it and we might add it into a possible next Build 13 release.

I don't know if I have to leave when I'm done with my education; after all I'd spend many months sailing aboard a ship, then a couple of months back home again. However, it wouldn't surprise me if the PotC modding would have just about stopped by then. It would be most unfortunate and I hope I am wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me. But one thing is for sure: I want the last and final Build release to be a truly good one. I don't want to leave any half-finished work. I'd hate that.

To Peter Willemoes: We haven't decided on the title for the PotC 4 prequel script we're working on yet. Last suggestion was "Hoist the Colours". I think most people pretty much liked that one.

If you want you can use the Directsail mod on the FTP (in the ccc Experimentals folder). It works for B13 as well as for B14.

i vote for having the name determined AT the release. anyway, i'll see when i can upload the add banner, although i might improve the sea a little first. meanwhile, i'm starting on a loading screen.

We need to have the name put in the main menu and the loading screens, as well as on banners and promotional material and stuff. Determining the name AT the release is too late.
