Richard Worely and 8 others supplied with meat, 6 muskets, ammunition, a cag of water, etc. Left New York september 18th 1718, in a small boat in which they sailed to Delaware River though not meeting with any prizes,
they sailed to the river of Newcastle and here took a small Shallop taking household goods from Oppquenemi to philidelphia, Worely and his crew took what they desired and let the shallop man go. It so happened The Shallop man reached land and warned the government who were so alarmed they fitted out several H.M.S vessels to find and hang the pyrates. Though it must be understood the robbery of George Grant ( the Shallop Man) was not a piractical act it not being commited upon the high sea but it was a simple robbery. The Government so alerted by this they fitted out a special ship the Phoenix of 20 guns to capture any pirates in the vicinity, back to the rovers sailing further down the river they took a small sloop and made her their new flagship though they took another sloop and exchanged, mounted 6 guns and small arms and new called her the Black Robbin. Worely confident of good success he made a new black ensign with a white skull etc. They all agreed to give nor accept quarters but to stand by each other and fight to the death, which they did when shortly after this they were boarded by a English sloop Man of war, each man did as they swore giving nor accepting any quarters in which all but Worely and one man died. Though the next day Worely and the man were hanged.
