The Purloined Ship of *some town*

LittleMorgan

Landlubber
I am having troubles here - the Portmaster of Port of Spain gave me the task to hunt down and return a stolen ship for him; a corvette named White Shark.

I found it, boarded it and now have it in my fleet; got the log update that I need to return it to my customer but the Portmaster wont take it back / recognizes that I have it, whatever.
And now what?

Did you make the "White Shark" your own ship? If so I think that's the reason the port master won't take it back.
Check in your logs if maybe that quest is done with, if so don't worry and keep it if you want.

OK Sordid your turn. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> I know your watching. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Are you sure this is exactly the quest ship you boarded? Because there are many ships with the same names. I killed in one of my gamers at least three lugers Unexpected and no one was the quest ship "luger Unexpected"

If you really found the quest ship and made it your flagship, the port controller won't take it. Give the ship to one of your officers and this should fix that problem, if not, then you'll have to load a previous save

Am not. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" /> And I've never done this quest anyway.

I'm sure it's that quest ship - it had orange sails on map screen; and in the captain's cabin there was the dialog midfight about me returning stolen property, yada, yada.
On leaving the looting screen I got the log entry for this quest.

I gave the ship to an officer, sailed to the nearest town, did some minor repairs, loaded some crew and food and headed straight for Port of Spain.
The Portmaster does not recognize it, maybe I should try the whole thing again from the moment I saw it first sailing on map screen.
But in theory it should be delivered back to the Portmaster that gave the quest and he should accept it, yes?

This quest sucks. For future reference, don't accept it. If you happen to be the same nationality as the ship in question then when you attack it your relation with said nation goes to Hell. Even though the ship is stolen, and even though the Port controller sent you after it, you are the bad guy for attacking it... Not even worth the effort.

He should accept it. Try doing the whole thing again. It might help

Yeah it does suck, so I'm not doing these tasks anymore. Only the return the logbook ones...

This quest gives lots experience; besides if you accept only at your nations ports it never has the flag of your nation... not to mention you can always raise pirate flag.

Ok, redid the capture and delivery - this time it worked as expected.
No clue what I did wrong the first time... I cant remember any difference... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

If you attack under the black flag, they care less? Will try it and see.

Will not make an iota of difference if you close in under your own flag and raise the jolly roger just before firing your guns, I can tell you that. Maybe if you raise the black flag on the map and then enter sailing mode, haven't tried that.

What sucks is *finding* the damn ship, I got three quests of that type in the log, and did the whole circle of the map without finding a single one of them...

Also not a single portmaster ever saw a sign of one of the three.
