The Royal `War-Ship`: The Wasa anno 1627

well... dont really know if a ship that capped side 30 min's after comming out of port, not being seaworthy in the first place should be in the game... atleast there should be some kind of fun factor that makes the ship tilt when it get strucked by the first broad side or encounter winds stronger then 6 m/s :rolleyes:
 
I actually saw the real ship myself during a childhood visit to Stockholm, back when I lived in England. I had a passion for sailing ships as a child even before I lived in Europe, and so suddenly being able to see ships like the Wasa, H.M.S. Victory, H.M.S. Warrior, the famous clipper Cutty Sark, and countless others was absolutely amazing. Still, I have to agree - seeing the Wasa "floating" would strike me as a bit odd seeing how it is most famous for its sinking.

Perhaps you could design a "what if?" version, based on an alternate reality in which Sweden might have remained a dominant sea power, and rebuilt the ship with fewer heavy guns on its upper decks. This way, she would have a lower center of gravity and might even have been able to sail.
 
i envy you terror i would have loved to see those ships in person and a waht if version of the wassa would be sweet. xD:

Be patient, Vassal. Be very patient. Note that the man working on this is part of the same team working on so many other mods to the game. I'd like 'em all now, too... But, realistically, he has only so many hours in the day.

I expect that, along with the Wasa, there will be many more islands to explore with her.

So, just hang in there. Post words of encouragement, but be patient!

The Modeling for this Ship is done, she is an intricate ship with many details and I have spend much time dabbling on decisions that would insure the best possible detail with the best possible performance in the game.

We all can make (those that do model their own Models anyways) detailed ships that does not mean that it is necessarilly a good thing for this engine.

As personally, with a Mid Range PC, I would still like to be able to fight with the ships I create in Large battles involving many other ships and in any location either at sea or near an Island, and the more there is the more the Computer is strained.

By the same token, I understand that not everyone has a Top Performance PC and if I want everyone to be able to enjoy my creations, then I am very consientious of this decision making.

As such, with the modeling finished, this ship is now in the process of Texture Mapping and its at 90%, after which point the Texturing will start (the actual painting of the Textures).

Will be posting screenshots once she is finished and in game.
