This model should have some hair and a hat!

I've got one problem more - I'm not able to copy/paste textures/pictures when I pull a rectangle thingy on the texture/picture with Photoshop CS2 ..only place where I can copy/paste them like that is windows paint program what uses bmp's but I can't set the size of the rectangle thingy in windows paint program. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_confused.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="icon_confused.gif" />
And because of this I'm not able to cut a picture/texture out from the whole picture/texture whit resolution set EXACTLY 256 x 256. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_confused.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="icon_confused.gif" />

i'm more of a modeler than a texturer at the moment, seeing what i can do with sketchup. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_confused.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="icon_confused.gif" /> this program is great practice.

Sketchup? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Oh dear ..you make me wonder again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
What the **** is sketchup? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" /> Is it somekind of hybrid ketchup made from tomatoes and s**t? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

well.... the name DOES make me think that the designers thought of it at the corporate meeting at macdonald's, but anyway: it's the program i use to make me mighty battleship of the sky. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> hmm.... guns... now that's an idea.

Hi
Cylon, download Gimp, it's free and it'll do pretty much all that you need.
don't ask about the icons ,I ended up doing them from scratch.

damski.

Okay. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

You might want to have a look at attached file. I made that years ago to enable me to make them portraits much easier. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

The texture files are in RESOURCE\Textures\INTERFACES\PORTRAITS. The assignment is with <i>model.FaceId</i> in initModels.c.

It's part of the texture.

You can now type in the exact resolution of the file. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

Alpha map? Whatever do you need that for? You can just use Paint. Put your screenshot in Paint, resize it (Ctrl+W) and fix the resolution (Ctrl+E) so that you get a 256x256 file. Save it. Open it, copy the 256 border, paste it on your screenshot and press the button shown on attached screenshot. Save it as a copy. Open your original borderless screenshot, resize it to 50% of it's original size, then do the same thing for the 128 border. Then repeat this again for the 64 border.

THANKS A MILLION! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> Sweet! it works! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

Okay ..portaits made for me muscle guy but the 128 portait what should be shown at character selection isn't showing,
do I need to add this 128 portait's name (913) in some file? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

EDIT: Nevermind ..changed the face_913.tga.tx to face_227.tga.tx ..got the damn thing working! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

EDIT2: Btw, I'm stuck at what color the belt should have ..black or brown? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Thanks. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> But I think I'll leave brown then because it kinda looks better.

Hi,
At long last capstan is finished.

Now using the armor mod, his appearance changes when you give him each grade of armor.

[attachment=1707:Capstan_upgrades_3.jpg]

Sorry for the picture size, couldn't upload a bigger one

Anyway he's uploaded to ftp in my folder if you want him.

Cheers

From what I can make out on that small picture, it looks really cool! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />
Might be interesting to see if there aren't any other ways of changing his appearance. Though one could argue that giving him better armor makes him look more "tough". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
I think he should be used as a main officer in one of the main quests somewhere. His changing appearance is to cool not to use. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Hi,
Looks a lot better when bigger.

BTW, Pieter what's happening with the gypsy captain ,I'd already started & re-done the face on him ,any point in carrying on with it.?

damski

You should communicate with SuperDurnius on the gypsycaptain model. I didn't know you were doing some work on him as well. In any case Bartolomeu is using him as the main character in his new main quest, so he requested some armored versions to be made. You might want to communicate with Bartolomeu as well.

Hi.
No harm in a joint effort ,i'll contact SuperDurius & Bartholemeu and see what we can come up with.

I did tell ya in a pm that I was working on it, dosen't matter tho it was a while ago.

damski

Hi,
Yes its a good character, it just needs a tidy up.
