three game questions

1.How can I fire an officer.
2.How many can I have(overall/active party).
3.How exactly they enhance skills ( for commerce ex. they must be in active party ? what percentage?)

to fire an officer, just talk to then, tell them its you, tell them you dont need then anymore, if you get them through a quest like Artois Voysey, just give then a crappy sword and use them while boarding and they should get killed, if not..... keep trying,

1.How can I fire an officer.

You cannot fire officers you got by quest - you have to have them killed in battle (boarding or on land). Or you can just let them sit in your passengers cache forever - the cache is fairly big (up to 50 passengers IIRC)

You can fire the other kind of officers (the ones you hired in the tavern) by talking to them.

2.How many can I have(overall/active party).

Active party is of course you and 3 officers. Namely the ones that are assigned to your ship. If you talk to the sailors on crew deck, you can have some sailors join the active party while on land.

3.How exactly they enhance skills ( for commerce ex. they must be in active party ? what percentage?)

They don't have to be in the party (with the mod that is). Even if they sit in the passengers, they still gain XP as you do. Make sure you have a "Shared Experience" perk for your character. As for percentages, not sure. It seems that if they _are_ in the party, they level up slightly faster.
 
Also: I think the game works with a party skill. If you have 1 sailing skill point and so do your three officers, your ship will sail as if you have 4 sailing points because the points of all your active officers are counted. Not your inactive officers though.

Some skills are not shared though: The fencing skill is seperate for each officer, for example.

I am not sure which skills and perks are shared and which ones are not. It's a bit confusing sometimes... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I think something needs to be changed with how officers work in the game. Why can't a doctor heal anyone? Why would the cannonneer fight alongside the player when on shore? Why wouldn't the navigator do his job if he doesn't follow you ashore? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
