To-Do list for Build 13

Hi all. Finally I found a way to add AOP towns into the BUILD

<img src="http://foto.spbland.ru/data/media/11/73334_seadogs20000.gif" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

This is my current Conceicao, for example.

Because this is a lot of MB (all models and textures), I'll waiting for AOP released on English and give an instructions, how to do that. Now I'm working on code, compatible for all models.

Nice, Maximus! One idea though: Maybe you shouldn't replace the towns on the stock islands, but instead only replace the towns on the new islands. Excluding Saint Martin and Antigua, because these towns are already distinctive, thanks to CCC and his Building Set. I think it's an excellent idea to not provide the source files in the Build, but instead force people to take them from AoP themselves. We won't be doing any illegal then at all, so Akella shouldn't have to make any troubles. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

That are great news! Thank you, Maximus <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> Are those townlocations bigger than those from PotC ?

I am not sure if I would buy AOP as "standalone" game, but IMHO it would only be fair that we pay for AOP if we use its models for modding. After all Akella has, despite their sometimes sloppy work, provided us with a great engine and and a lot of moddable gameplay, so they deserve some sort of donation.

Avast thar CCC, It'd be really great see'in yer mug around a these ere parts agin, I begun ter thinkin yer got washed overboard or sumpthin. Anyway yer didnt go down with yer ship yet, so its great tew see yer back.....by the way...I begin ta think the bugs be growin instead of gettin worse, ceptin they begun tew multiple without any help now-a-days, an "Nobodys" knows anything about them, they just "appeared" on thar own......

P.S. Yer know what my Ship's Parson be sayin tew the crew nowadays dont yer!!!

Great to see you again, CCC! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Question to all: I think it is about time we made a stable modpack update again. Naturally, we can't add all features that are available, because some features cause trouble. If I am to make a stable modpack version, what base version do you want me to use? I can make one based on the 21 November 2005 release or perhaps on the 5 March 2006 release. What version do you reckon to be the best base? I will add only bugfixes to the base version that is chosen and nothing else whatsoever. That should make for a stable version, right?

Well if you want my opinion......I tested the game too a point for the CTD's...and was very honored too be part of a 2 man team to do so with Pieter's guidance....we found the CTD's or the biggest ones and kicked its ass....but then some little mod, or something else got in and changed the parameters of the crew casualties too an alltime "Horrendous" level and ruined everything we sought to eliminate. This has been the biggest setback to me of all the bugs......this should never have happened. Even when testing for the dreaded CTD's we never had crew casualities at this level........I am not the only one to notice this.....if this and the flag mod could be reversed to their former glory, we have a solid Build 13.....but as far as I am concerned the Flags, and the Crew casualties are the biggest 2 areas of problems at this moment....

P.S. I further beleive that only CCC is capable to fix these crucial areas......hahahahahahaha <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/slap.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":slap" border="0" alt="slap.gif" />

Interesting. Crew casualties "should" be horrendous. If crew losses are much worse than hull damage, then tweak the damage on cannon fire until it balances. It should balance at a point where crew and cannon losses are the most common forms of damage, and hull damage is more of a repair problem than an actual danger of sinking. That would be historical, and it would probably add to gameplay. (That way, ships could cripple each other without one of them just turning up and sinking like a stone.)

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> thar Ron, these crew casualties are way beyond that me hearty....you even lose 250 plus crew when you board a struck ship that dont fight back.....don't be thinkin will be keepin that level of intensity

If you can give same points and clues about the "crew casualties" issue, I can try to fix it.... it has to be in AIShip.c

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> thar kblack: most of the bugs reports on the crew issues are on this thread, going back to the early 60 pages....say 61, 62, 63, etc. also the weird flag/relation issues as well. Not sure how these got tampered with or changed, but Pieter thinks it might have to do with the gunpowder or Abordage mods, at least those were mentioned.....

"http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?showtopic=5586&st=1240" here is the thread

Luck to you Matey

I've also run into some strange bugs where I'll engage some enemy ships, and they just won't shoot me it seems, unless I ride right up next to them and let them broadside me from 10 feet away; and even then sometims they won't. Also, it seems when I attack the fort in redmond, it won't shoot back at me.

That's not "casualties" - that's just a glitch when you have 250 crew just jump into the ocean because you boarded a surrendered ship.

Casualties would be when you have a few more than expected killed during a broadside.

Maybe it's depression. I've had days where I would rather shoot myself than go to work. Sailor burnout. "We have to board another damaged ship, boys!" "NOOOO! Not again!" BANG.

Oh no, I'm still on deck, only the ship is becalmed: during summer I never have time to mod or even play, so I have nothing to post <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Im no modder, but i think the crew damage was horrible, i sail all the time with just enough crew, as a pirate its hard to find crew. Maybe make more places you can hire crew. Maybe from an officer in the Governers palace, where u can hire Navy like crew, more expesive and only have Good morale all the time. But then again your a pirate so you cant go into town with out being attacked... is it possible to make being a pirate abit less hostile?

BUT i must say mates your doing a Marvelous job! I love the mods, love the ship berthing, the weapons and everything you guys put in! And only with minor gliches haha! Keep up the top work!

Wish i could do something to help.

Well, that's the problem with being a "pirate". If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

You could do what the historical pirates did. Declare war on one country, and take refuge with that country's enemies. Spain was always at war with England. If you shoot up Spanish ships, England will reward you. The only reason to be a "pirate" and just shoot at everybody is if you like being anti-socal.

Navy sailors certainly did not have great morale either. Most of the unemployed sailors in the Americas of that time period recently quit a major navy (legally, medical discharge, or they just jumped ship). Many pirates were cases of mutiny - the crew threw the officers to the sharks, and then were not very welcome on shore. Getting enough sailors was a problem for everybody.
