Treasure fleet

I just boarded a fleet that proved to be a treasure fleet
and after destroying a couple of warships got this (among other valuable merchandise) from the defensless merchant ships.

I'm filthy rich <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />.

NICE! i'm going to have to start raiding more merchant convoys, hopefully i'll stumble on one of those!

good raid <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

hehe yes it feels good when we can catch a treasure convoy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

my best loot was around 1700 gold and 3500 silver and around 2000 slaves

One of my best combat experiences on the game was when another Pirate captain offer me in his deck to join forces to raid a Treasure fleet... it was a magnificent battle, me commanding the BlueBird and him on a Brig against a powerful fleet of 4 ships all from class 1 or 2 and one Heavy Galleon and a Fluyt carrying the preciated goods.... wonderful combat and quite profitable raid.

<b>BEST REGARDS</b>

Yep, had similar luck just now. A Dutch convoy - a bunch of galleons, a frigate, and a manowar, all stuffed with precious loot. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" /> I'm sailing away with over 3000 gold, almost 2000 silver, and a brand new manowar (which, oddly enough, only had 12 pounders mounted, even though it's capable of mounting 42 pounders... which is probably why I was able to defeat it so easily, my little Dog of War mounting 32 pounders actually has more firepower than that joke).

is this same as 'Golden Fleet' quest? once every year i always got it at the tavern, and its always puerto bello - havana route. after 1 week i go to havana and sail all the way down to puerto bello but i never saw it.

anyone done this quest before?

No, it's not the same. This was just a regular merchant convoy that just happened to be loaded with gold and silver. The golden fleet moves pretty fast, if you want to have any chance to catch it you have to go to Havana right away or it'll be gone by the time you arrive.

the "big" world map merchant ships all are pretty much a mix of gold and silver convoys, i never had the chance to try and capture the rumor treasure fleet officially, but them generic ones will fatten your wallet in a hurry, plus they tend to give up fairly quickly

i just plundered the 'golden fleet' yesterday. Oh my! those treasure are too much i couldnt carry them all. I go there with 1 SOL, 4 warships and 2 got sunked and i boarded 2 and only manage to carry half, leave the rest to the ocean.

Yeah, those ships tend to be loaded. I captured another convoy today and I had to ferry gold from ship to ship mid-battle to fit it all into the holds. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Too funny, I had the experience of getting my first MOW last night, and this is exactly how I lucked out with the funding to upgrade the beast <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> - only took 1 treasure fleet, and some ships sold.

Someone said you could get 42 pounders on her? I can't seem to upgrade it to that for whatever reason... maybe my MOW is crap??

Yeah, it's a crap MOW. Check my earlier screenie, I got a MOW that can pack 42 pounders without even having to upgrade it.

any tip in finding one? ive been reloading in the area of havana and i still hasnt seen it come near it and its already gone -.-

does it have a different color sail? can i see the golden or treasure fleet name on it when i encounter it in the world map?

As I know the treasure fleet has yellow (or maybe gold <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ) sails in the wold map.

its always the route porto bello - havana. Last time i get the quest, it was january and it said the ship will depart in july. So basically i have 6 months to prepare. I havent got big ships yet so i go plunder some. then when july comes, i was waiting outside porto bello with 1 month rations. One week after july, there it is, a yellow sail ship coming out of porto bello. And i robbed them in front of the fort's eyes./

I guess that an easy way to get those fleets. If the tips said the ship already set sail, then its very hard to find. If the tips said it will set sail a few months from now, then all u need is to wait outside Porto Bello coast.

Only the <i>quest</i> Spanish golden fleet that goes from Portobello to Havana does. The generic large merchant convoys don't, they just have a really big ship icon on the map.

oh well screw the golden fleet i get more money from attacking regular high guarded merchant convoy around Jamaica since there are a lot of dutch convoy passing there

though i wish i can encounter one since from what i heard they have some nice ship better stat than the rest i want them <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

It's depressing to have to drop thousands of units of gold on the bottom of the ocean. Too bad you can't tow ships.

No doubt! I remember losing muchof my gold from the Morgan raid on Belize because I brought a brigantine to the party. oops! Oh well, the map is littered with loot. The nice thing about having an ocean more crowded than I-5 in Southern Cal is that there is no shortage of loot. I stopped worrying about gold not long after I started raiding ships.

There's a thought, lets go car hijacking! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />
