Trouble with cheats

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a little technical problem here. I was recently surfing for cheats and found out about something where you replace Nathaniel's class 6 lugger ship with virtually any ship you want. This cheat worked until I came to try the "fort" ship. Apparently, the screen goes blank after I try to go to port. Can anyone tell me how to fix or modify the program files so that I can sail this vessel?
 
The fort ship isn't actually a ship, but a fort. The game handles forts in a similar way to ships. You, of course, can't sail a fort, so the game would crash. Just try any other ship. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
(I don't think "boat" will work either. Apart from that, you can choose what you wish)
