Tweek to save in combat?

Now I'm not a save in combat kinda guy, but after an epic fight with a 4th rate which I finally capture after what had to be 1/2 hour RL time, only to have it crash when I go back to sea mode, I'd be ticked pink if I could save in combat so those 9 ship battles don't go for naught.

If there is a simple setting which would allow that which I could modify I'd be very grateful to know what it was.

If you can enter the world map, you should be able to save...

We disabled Save At Sea when you're still close to danger, because some stuff is not saved properly while in battle, such as cannon reload status.
