Hi all

I'm pretty new to the game having just started the main quest last week. I am running the 12.1 build with the UK ubisoft version of the game and have got as far as informing the governor of Redmond that the French are in Oxbay. While getting into some scraps and taking on a mission in Redmond I also spied a rather fetching young officer with good leadership and melee skills by the name of Gillian Fairfoot. After hiring her she accompanied me for a while until I hired another officer with navigation skills. While this chap also followed me around the town I noticed Gillian Fairfoot had disappeared! I looked in the Passenger list and she is in there, but the icon shows her as a bloke in a red cape <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock:" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> I tried double clicking the icon to get her/him/it to join me ashore but no matter what I try she does not appear - am I doing something wrong or can you only take one officer ashore with you ??

No, you can take up to three companions everywhere you go - even if it´s not recommendable to do so, they tend to get you into trouble easier than help you out of it. If you just hired an officer, you´ve got to change the location, e.g. leave the tavern, to have him accompany you. Maybe there´s a problem with female officers, I´ve never had one so far - except Danielle.
 
I picked her up on the street, ahem, as it were, rather than in a tavern. We did change locations after I found the third officer, but she never appears on land now and when I am at sea in the deck view all crew are males and no women to be seen - very odd. Maybe I picked up a shy transvestite pirate <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock:" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />
 
The guys you see at your deck aren´t your officers, they´re just ordinary crewmen. To meet your active officers, you´ve got to got to the cabin.
With your female officer, you´re sure she´s an active officer, not just a passenger?
 
She was definately an officer when I hired her services in Redmond and she followed me around for a while onshore until I hired a third officer - then she disappeared. I have looked in the cabin and she does not appear even though she is selected as an officer and not a passenger - guess its a bug then ??
 
Yes, she appears in the passenger's list, but when moved to the officer shore party or when I look in the cabin she is nowhere to be seen - last time I saw her was when I first hired her.
 
You can't put her in your officer shore party and have her show up onshore with you? That is ODD! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Does she have an officer's portrait, or just the Animist (`red-robed` guy) pic?

You should pick up and test Pieter's modpack which everyone has been contributing to - Petros added skins and portraits for the female officers into the tailor shops, so you can actually BUY a female skin for your officers or for yourself if you so desire. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

I wonder, won´t the game screw up if you´ve got a female skin? Especially in the scenes where you sit down with somebody, as there´s not sitting animation for women, as far as I know.

Hi Cat

Thanks for the tip on the new character mods, have downloaded the mod pack and will install after I have finished the main quest as it requires a new game start.

Gillian Fairfoot has suddenly started appearing onshore again, not sure how I achieved that! She is pretty useful with an Italian Schiavona fending off bandits and rabid monkeys in the jungle so I am happy that she is back. She does indeed appear as the red hooded guy (animist?) in the passenger/officer menu (why is that?), but I seem to be able to make her appear onshore as the officer I actually hired. Here are some pics of her character menu, the passengers menu and the gal herself. Hopefully you will be able to tell me what is going on......Cheers..Rummy

Rummy, the reason is that Build 12 still doesn't have the skins available in the tailors mod, with their portraits available.

As Cat mentioned, the Modpac has those skins available now and hopefullly soon, the next Build update will have them as well.
