Video Problem

Hey guys,
I played potc when it first came out, but yesterday I decided to install it again and see what I forgot. Anyway, when I would go to run it, it would run through the storm startup and then go to a black screen. I could hear the Disney logo being played but the video is black. It stays black until I ctrl alt del it. All of my drivers are up to date and I played it on the same machine with the same video card (geforce fx 5600) and everything just a year ago. Any clues as to why it'd do this?

Have you recently updated your video drivers? Perhaps a setting was changed without your noticing it. Check to see if `anti-aliasing` is enabled - you may need to disable this for the game to run.

Sounds like you don't have the right codec for the video files.
Try renaming all the videos from Videoname.wmv to xVideoname.wmv to force them to not be played and see if the game works OK without them.

Even if the game ran all right before, Nathan? How would the codecs change?

Turned `anti-aliasing` off, still didn't work. changed the video names, didn't work either.

I uninstalled the video card yesterday and reinstalled it. Ran ok. Then today when I go to run it, it did the same problem it did before. I can't uninstall the video card everytime I want to play <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

turns out that even when I uninstall/reinstall the video card, it'll run, but then crash a few minutes in <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Computers are fun

Do you have the build installed? If not, try it with (or at least with the Geforce FX patch) as Akella released a fix for GF FX card users I believe, and it's in the build.
Thought it was only for looks and not stability though.
