tar.gz is a Unix compression format IIRC.

I'm regretfully with Inez here--we can't release this as part of the build--neither right nor legal.

And I see the body above is split away from the head--I wonder if that's custom to this, or part of STORM 2.5 in AOP?
(And if not, if we can push Akella to make it so!)
 
Tried downloading it last night... took hours but I get 75% there... then I realized the computer I was using wouldn't let me burn it onto the blank disc I brought, which I guess wouldn't have been large enough for 1.3 gigs anyway. So, till I can get the inter nets settled at home, anyone want to share some juicy tidbits from this game?
 
OK so I am set up with a not--sucks-too-horribly-much wireless at home now and I spent like a bazillion hours downloading the game and it's really something. I'm seeing spears and things... I think I'd love to just play the game as-is, if it'll let me, but also i am going to see what I could cull for independent mods.
 
It looks like it'd be a great modding resource. Alan, let me know if you have any idea how to get the ship models working in-game. I've gotten the hulls in successfully, but that's all that shows up. The mast and rigging all do not appear, and it's quite frustrating. The ship models in voyage century are really brilliant, and I'd love to see several in game replacing the stock PotC ones. Keep me (us) posted...

It's the weapons I'm most interested in. I haven't gotten to see them all yet but so far - halberds and wicked spears, oh my. Shouldn't be too hard...

The game uses a lot of the same files/filenames as PotC, I wonder why that is. Even the icons look like they were painted by the same people...

It appears to be very like Uncharted Waters / New Horizons, the game that Lady Cat and I tend to go on about.

I tried putting one of the models that has a head into the game with the following result:

I think she will look better with her own ANI file, and her held won't keep rolling around, <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> but I have to figure out how to get the right file in. What is a BON file anyway? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
Not certain if the shading on her face is the result of the wrong ANI file or not, I'll keep experimenting. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I'm thinking that Inez's tool might be of use in getting the heads and necks onto the bodies, but I'm not sure if that will work or not, or if it is necessary. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> It looks like with VC you have the option to mix and match heads and bodies to suit yourself, but that may make getting the models into POTC problematic.

The main thing I was trying to do was get some of the sea creatures in VC into my copy of POTC; Dolphins, sea turtles, whales ...., but so far no luck. Oh gosh there are a ttooonnn of animals in here, I'm seeing foxes and snakes and bats and wasps and scorpions and bears and boars and horses drawing carriages and turtles... um, and minotaurs and rock monsters and Shivas and Santa Clause... man what a friggin' wierd game.
