We really do good work...

Merciless Mark

Build mod - Master Gunner
Storm Modder
The Build mod never ceases to amaze me, even thou having a significant part myself in it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

My cannonFX mod with the extra fire graphics and splinters and the whole package, plus the realistic cannon mod, JRH sounds, surprise, and my new flag set as well as other new ships is just simply totally sweet, i have never before played anything so immersive.. so .....so true to the age of sail and the combat, i feel a greath thrill as i stand on deck shelling out cannon shots, not actually taking ultra arcadish hull damage but loosing cannon and men above all.

Snapped some shots today, the flags you see is the new high quality ultra realistic set im working on for the build mod <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

For some reason this pic has an uncanny resemblance to a certain scene in Master & Commander, save for the ship, is it allowed to admira and be proud of ones own creations? CannonFX!

The only good frog is a dead frog. seriously, the napoleonic flags look much much better ingame.

what ship is that? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> one downside of those new flags though is that they have a tendency to go through the sails, by the looks of it. the old flags where in a position where it happened far les often. but that doesn't matter anyway.

That be the blame of the ship makers who position the flags in such a manner and not me flags matey <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Btw i do think that maybe we should cut down on the number of flags, like edit the ships and have say one or two flags top, since it looks so strange with multiple flags, I mean ships usually flew on ensign signifying the nation, the rest usually were pennants.

It looks great, Merciless Mark! I must say: The Napoleonic French fag really does look nice. I like it much better than the French royal Fleur de Lis flags. I'm beginning to think we should go all Napoleonic! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

To Morgan Terror: British Frigate. Also known as HMS Surprise. She's in the game right now, but I have a better version made by Merciless Mark to submit to the next update.

We really need somone with maya thou to port the revised model in and then export it back so that the lighting appears right.
Oh hey Pieter, would you be intreasted in the custom icon i created too? never figured out how to add more but i made one for it anyway lol.

INdeed, a ship festooned with flags and pennants really bothers me. I already know who owns that ship and I don't need to see another flag!

A large ensign from the mizzen gaff and a long, thin pennant from the main is quite sufficient, I say.

To Merciless Mark: Of course I'm interested. But send it to Pirate_KK instead. He knows how to make it work ingame. I don't. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

although off-topic, speaking of work:

it needs to be made clear that the player should visit oxbay before visiting silehard when starting at a different island. i discovered that it causes a large array of bugs that skrews up the main quest, but doesn't cause any further problems. (apart from not being able to play the main quest) it's the bug where silehard's dialogue got reset. if you can tell me where the quest book entry for 'escape from oxbay' is, i'll fix up a new one that indicates this.

but now, back on topic.

Talk about carnage! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
<img src="http://alexraptor.com/images/canfire1.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Felt even more painfull when seeing it live, pulling up along side and firing off a broadside, seeing the pirate guns blow and the splinters just flying in every which direction, to bad PoTC has no actual hull damage effects hehee.

sorry, but i have to say that that's not very impressive. it is a nice shot being so well aligned, though.

too bad the AI is so dumb, would be nice to have two large fleets of lineships/man o wars firing at eachother.

strange enough, all heavy warships are line ships, ship of the lines, the largest ones being 1st rates.

hehe. that's EXACTLY what i just encountered. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> one portugese battle fleet vs. a rag-tag bunch of pirates(that was the discription). 3 manowars (one ship of the line and two guber manowars, which is really wierd as the guber manowars SHOULD be unique. they wheren't ship's of the line, i checked in the sail-to list. and they where black), 4 or 5 battleships (amongst these where an escalated battleship and a battleship2), and a warship against a war galleon, a warship, a brigantine, and a regular galleon. i just thought it would be fun to join in with my battleship. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> that trader with his fleut of war that i was escorting coped quite well. i tried to take two screenshots, but due to the lag, they failed to end up in the main directory somehow. guess i didn't hold F8 long enough.

Looks like a bomb went off in the second picture. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

well, i have seen fires on enemy ship's reach the powder-room. it looks similar, but less extreme. it happens when a fire goes on for a long time, but it might have something to do with a certain amount of cannons exploding due to fire.

i personally preferr ultimate realism so i have "my" realistic splinters and puffs and fires caused by cannon balls turned off.
