Weapons and Ammo Mods Brainstorming

I agree that a lot of the rare good blades are waaaay too common. They should only become available late in the game. Or maybe we should prevent these blades from appearing at all and make them special quest-only blades, so you MUST go through a lot of effort to find them. Sometimes you find them before you even finished the tutorial. That is not right. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

To Thomas the Terror: Making subcategories would be excellent, but I don't know how to do it. Maybe someone else can figure it out.

To YourObed't Serv't LordNelson and SuoiveD and anyone who would like to know:
You are both right. The [1] key equips a blade. The [F] Key is the quick-equip button that equips a blade, a gun, a spyglass, armor, a powder flask and an ammo pouch if you have them in your inventory. Both buttons will try to choose the best item(s) you have available, but many times, it will not choose right. However, it will at least never equip a WORSE item than you currently have equipped.

Again, we need that mod several people mentioned earlier, and I suggested again recently. A system where there were not "good" and "bad" blades so much as blades by various types - heavier, lighter, faster/slower, etc. That way it would be more an issue of your choice of tactics than just getting a "good" weapon. Finding a combination that was right for you could take a little time. Even after you found your preferred weapon, it might or might not perform well against any particular enemy.

That would take out the "too many good blades" issue, and replace it with a completely different issue.

Give us some examples. We have damage, piercing and blocking. What would yoiu suggest as good combinations for several swords that would give people these choices.

I´ve tried to simplify the ammo mod a lot. It´s a very early version & yes it may interfere with some other things. Please try it. It´s on the FTP.

As for my two cents worth the most annoying thing (besides the Crew losses) was the nee to find 6 bullets, then give them too an officer, then find 6 powder...give them too an officer....remember, all this time I could not get more than 6 in my inventory either.....then repeat as nessessary for each one I hired.....and the very first random engagement the bloody officers would start firing their pistols at every freakin tree, bush bandit, Monkeys, leeches....very large rodents...you name it they hit it.......meanwhile I had carved up the offending Rogues in fine style, only to have to replensih officers bullets and powder again........Ok, but we had to have something to do while questing and building up levels....REMEMBER THAT WORD!.......LEVELS....if you dont play out in the jungles a little, or the dungeons, or the ships, (and the ships can be pretty bad when you first start out unless you cheat a little.........) or the Taverns, or the Towns.....you never....ever.....ever.....level up....BUT it was still a major pain....and then along came that wonderous Day the entire Caribbean cheered over, and demanded the Governor of Redmond to declare a national Holiday....YES Folks I m talking about that day!!....................................The Day Thomas Rielly got stocks of ammo and powder for sale to the common Captain and crew.......OH HAPPY DAY!, My life returned to those joyous days of my childhood, sailing the caribbean Blue, dragging out those gleaming swords, that glowed in the moonlight as I plunged them into helpless vixctims, killing people by the score......pillaging and plundering tew me hearts content.......err...where was I ? Oh yes......The ammo mod, I love it now...it is my new best friend, I even think if you expand it too other colonies, you will ruin it. But I do remember discussing and planning a new island town called Antigua, once with a feller who use to come around here named "CCC" and the idea was maybe, just maybe, giving powder and shot to NAVAL BASES of each one players nationality naval base or major town...THIS IS NO LONGER A CHORE, IF YOU REMEMBER THE OLD WAY......besides we still need to level up and this gives us a reason to roam around finding stuff.....gets pretty boring starting at level 53 every game and finishing the game in three and a half days!
