What are Mods?

mods = modification

They change the game to make it more enjoyable to play. As far as the mods here, they are a huge improvement over the standard game.

Unless you meant mods as moderators who run the forum to make sure everything is going smoothly.
 
For PotC, we have the Build 12 mod (available from the main PiratesAhoy! site), which is version 12 of the English modpack. It's a huge improvement over the stock game and I would highly recommend getting it. There are also the post Build 12 mods (available through the link in my signature), which add yet more improvements, but still do contain several really annoying bugs.

There is also the Sea Legend is Back mod, which is very good, but available only in Russian. An English version is in the works though and is, hopefully, going to make it's release somewhere next month! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
 
On yor 'Pirates Page' I can't find the 'current base version' for build Mode 12. I dosent seem to be on there, and I think I need to download it before I can download the updated versions. Do I start of with the 'current base version', or am I looking in the wrong place. I also have little knowledge about these build mode things.
 
click on the Build 12.1 full download. It is a subforum on the POTC Build Mod Forum. It will link you to the download. After that you can follow the link in Pieter's posts to his website and get his post build mod.
 
There are two files you need:
1) Build 12 (available through the main PiratesAhoy! site)
2) Post Build 12 mods current base version (from Pieter's Pirates Page - The 96,3 MB file [Download modpack link])

When you have that and want to update to more recent version (when they're released), you can download the update files from my page.
